This and the Berra deal take a bit of sting out of not trading cammy. Still would have been nice to turn him into draft picks though.

A 3rd today is like a 2nd round pick in deadlines past. Solid return.

Based on other returns today, the forward market was just too saturated. 3rd for Stemp is not bad in comparison.

It's another guy who would've walked away...you get what you can get. 3rd is fair value.

Stempniak for a 3rd and Berra for a 2nd. Pretty surprising. Would have loved to have seen Cammellari moved for something similar to Stempniak, but Burke did fairly well.

It's a pity he wasn't on one of his notorious hot streaks of late. Still a 3rd rounder isn't bad considering what's been taken today.
I'm more just glad a spot is now opened up for one of several hungry rookies.

3rd is another steal. Decent day. Still poor asset management on Cammy, unless he does re-sign with Calgary.

Finally!
I wonder what has to be included in the trade email to NHL to be legit by the deadline. Just the intent to do a trade between the teams or all of the principal details more or less? And can they back out of it after the email is sent and allowed?

Good moves for Pittsburg honestly. They were good in identifying and patching what was wrong with them.
Basically their bottom two lines were terrible. Goc and Stempniak help out greatly in that regard and for a modest price.

what's great is that the Flames cleared two contract spots today. Those could be used for college UFAs later in the season.

Not bad, not that far off from what Vanek got...... kind of funny.

If this is indeed official. Stemps for a 3rd good.

Not bad. I had him as the most likely UFA to re-sign (believe him and Stajan are best friends, and their wives are close apparently), but a third seems like fair-value for him, at least in this year's market.

Might be worth close to as much a few days before July 1 as he was today. If they have any interest in re-signing him it's way better to hold and not give away for nothing.
I don't like not moving him, but...

Some ammo to move up at the draft with if needed. Not a bad day for Burke.

Hmmm how a few minutes changes things. CP lambasting Burke on doing nothing and suddenly it's a 2nd rounder and a 3rd rounder in the bag. Draft day just got more interesting.

Good moves by the Penguins, adding Goc and Stempniak, two guys who could compliment each other on a 3rd line, are good deals.
Not as flashy as Iginla, Morrow etc etc but good depth players.

I'm not butthurt about this or Berra. Returns are ok (although not steals).
The inability to move Cammy though will sour the taste in my mouth for months.
