Yea great trade by Burke, 2nd for Berra and a 3rd for Stempniak. Good moves I am happy.
Like I said before... no problem with Berra, he did well this year. But with Ramo on his way back and Ortio playing as good as he has, Berra was the odd man out. Just a victim of circumstances.

I'd be ok with a Vlasic-type return.

Goalies are weird.
San Jose fans were probably pumped that they got a 2nd for Kipper at the time too. (and Vlasic has turned out pretty damn good too).
He has size, and he has crazy athleticism. If Roy/Allure can teach him some positioning and technique this could look like a steal for them in 10 years.
Great trade for Calgary today since Berra wasn't in our future plans, but would not be surprised if this looked like a win for Colorado in the future.

I do.
Berra is 26, playing his first year in North American Hockey. Sure he's left in some softies, but it's not like he's crapping the bed in front of the St. Louis blues.
Kid has tonnes of potential and you throw into the mix that the Avs are pretty good at turning goalies in to strong starters this is pretty good deal for the Avs. My guess is that Burke wasn't openly shopping Berra and the Avs came in with an offer he couldn't refuse.

I wonder if Berra going to the Olympics and playing a good game against Sweden helped increase his value.
Will the Avs be sending him to the minors or going with three goalies?

this is one of those:
"We actually had a trade for Giguere in the works and needed a back up, only to have Washington trade for Halak instead of Giguere and now we have an extra goalie. oops."

If it helps, you know as much as Joe Sakic, Patrick Roy and Greg Sherman do.

I get how Roy would be into Berra. He does show impressive athleticism at times, some unreal instinct saves. Maybe Roy thinks his problems are just technique which will be easy to fix or hell, maybe he even sees a bit of himself in Berra, who knows.

Yikes, hope this trade doesn't come back to haunt the Flames in the future when this team becomes a playoff contender in like 7 or 8 years!

If you want to pull that logic, then we got Emile Poirier, a 2nd and Mark Cundari for Bouwmeester.
Depending on what happens with the second could be a solid return. IMO Poirier is one of the most exciting prospects we have.
