Conacher and Corvo also notable names on the list.
Wasn't Conacher in contention for the Calder a year or two ago?

So.... if Smith goes down, does that leave us with only six defensemen on the main club?
My guess - either we're expecting to acquire a defenseman, or one of Billins / O'Brien are coming back up.

Would take a chance on Conacher. Skilled player only 24... Not a burke player at all though but an upgrade on Byron IMO

Yzerman keeps looking smarter and smarter trading him while his value was sky high, he's probably trending to be the same worth as Byron at this point.

Put this in the other thread but... with Conacher on waivers and most likely to be claimed imo, that means Ottawa is left with a 4th for Bishop? Ouch.

Why not claim both?
Stock the cupboards a bit with young guys that have good upside? Corvo is better then some of our d playing regular shifts.

Powerplay Quarterback

Smith will not be claimed, if any thing he will be a toss in on any trade the Flames make.

The Flames presently have no healthy scratches (beyond Smith) and that was before Jones got hurt last night. So either Stajan will be back or they expect Glencross/Westgarth to be able to play on Wednesday or there will be a few call-ups unless trades happen today.
Anyone acquired tomorrow would be doubtful to be in Calgary in time for the game.
