I like Granlund tonight too - nice play behind the net on Gio's goal. played well..

but seriously some of you guys gotta put away the anointing oil.

I remember all too well the gushing over Roman Cervenka after a couple of games.

I know I know I'm gonna get the

I was really liking Jones' game lately, sorry to hear about the injury, did not look good.

Enjoyable game but one that is becoming all to common. Work hard keep it close and lost by a goal. I really shouldn't be mad or complain but I still hate losses regardless of our draft position.

Good news is the kids can play. Hoping Reinhart comes up for Jones. He deserves a call up.

Could be the shoulder for sure, though when it occurred I immediately thought clavicle.

Great game from the guys considering its a hard time of year to concentrate for many of them.

When did Jones get hit? Stepped away from the game for a bit and must have missed it.

Separated shoulder involves the joint that links the clavicle to the scapula

Neiderreitter checked his stick on a drive to the net by Jones. Jones lost his footing and flew into the boards head/neck/shoulder first. Not good for his recently reconstructed shoulder.

If I were to speculate, I'd say he'll be shut down for the season. Thus ending my prediction he would have been the first Flames traded tomorrow.

Too bad really, he, much like Backlund, seems to get injuries just when his game starts to round back into form.

My takes form tonight's game:

Markus Granlund is a keeper. He will round into a very good player. I was really impressed with his back checking tonight, namely the play he came back and lifted Neidereitter's stick on what looked like was a 2 on 1 shaping up.

Berra was good.

Russell needs to find his form again.
Backlund is showing good consistency to his game which is a huge plus.
Monahan, like Kerr pointed out a few times tonight starting to add some good physicality to his game.
Gio is rock solid.

Can't complain about the game at all. They played with effort and heart, but their lack of skill and finish is very apparent. Not really the players' fault, they just don't have the personal to score that goal when they need it. I like how they played with a chip on their shoulder all night. Even Butler had some fiestyness in front of the net. That 2nd goal by Berra sucked, but otherwise he had a strong game. Nice to see Granlund get the first of many points hopefully.

This edition of the Flames will lose more then they win, but as long as they go down swinging I am satisfied.

Bit of a different situation though. Cervenka had never played in North America. Came over and had a bloodclot issue right away.

Granlund has done well in Europe as a teenager but also has worked his way up the lineup for our farm team and is leading the AHL is rookie goal scoring. He's adapted to North American hockey very well and has done nothing but impress.

I don't really see anybody annointing him with anything. We're just excited we have a prospect impressing who has done more than most people thought he would in the minors this year as a rookie.

No need to try and be debbie downer is there? All we have to be excited about these days is young players and its nice to see a different one step in and show he may have an NHL future ahead of him isn't it?

I hope that it's revealed at the end of the season that Wideman has been playing with 8 broken fingers. Wow. He's so bad I don't even know what to say anymore.

Joe Colborne could stand to spend a night in the press box.

As is usually the case, the effort was there.

Agreed that there is more potential for Grandlund and Yes it's exciting to see the young guys coning up!

Comments like "He's a keeper" - we just don't know that yet.

I told everyone Granny was going to be somebody for this team. Seeing some great beginnings from the kid! Playing in the pro leagues overseas had obviously matured his game prior to even coming over. Good plays at both ends of the ice.

These are the kind of losses I can take. Although I do ####ing hate the Wild.

Bad wrist injuries like the one Wideman suffered usually take the player 1-1.5 seasons to fully recover their abilities. He is going to be bad for a long time still.

Not to be a dick, but there is a reason Wideman is on his fifth team in the NHL in only 9 seasons. His wrist injury has little to do with how terrible he's been. Honestly think a team should just try and make him a forward. He might actually be a useful forward and can still play the pp.

There's a chance Westgarth and/or Stajan could be back for Wednesday's game.
Trades are the big X-factor for that game's line-up.
