Sure there is...

Pressed to talk about his exploits in the attacking zone, he’ll insist his linemates — fellow Flames prospect Bill Arnold, a broad-shouldered senior with points in 22 of the 29 games during Gaudreau’s streak, and Chicago Blackhawks first-rounder Kevin Hayes — are to thank for his success.

Weird! Read the article this morning and could have sworn they mentioned Hayes' affiliation and not Arnold's, which is why I thought it was strange.

Yeah that was painful. Whenever I read the comments under a newspaper article, or Yahoo or whatever, all I can think is: these people get to vote.

I really hope we could trade for Kevin Hayes... Keeping a line like that would be awesome.

If he ends up being half as good in the NHL I will be extremely happy.

Gaudreau is going to make a splash from day one at camp next season. He's too good and too consistent not to. Him and Money gelled so well at the dev camps, they were awesome to watch. At this point I'm not too worried about Monahan's assist totals going into next season.

Glad you asked!

All three players are going to have to make the NHL on their own merit, they aren't going to make it as a team within a team. If you want to go after Hayes because you think he's going to be an NHL'er then by all means, I get that but don't do it because of junior/college chemistry. I think Arnold is going to have a tough road ahead of him NHL wise, I'm not blown away by targeting the 3rd most important player of that line.

Lines don't go pro together, lines don't make the NHL together. Arnold, Gaudreau etc etc will make the NHL as individuals and then when they make that step chemistry will develop with other players. Going after junior or college chemistry just doesn't make sense. Corey Perry went to the NHL and developed chemistry with Ryan Getzlaf, another good NHL player, he didn't go to the AHL with his junior line mates Dylan Hunter and Rob Schremp and it wouldn't have made sense for the Ducks to target those players either.

Leave chemistry out of it, judge each player on their own merit. Gaudreau is hugely talented player who has the ability to see the ice well and use his teammates to his advantage. I doubt he'll go long without finding guys he has chemistry with.

Well, that totally changes my perspective on chemistry now! You're absolutely right. Individual work must be first, and maybe you'll find chemistry with someone in the NHL. Understandable that NCAA hockey is not NHL hockey. Good post.

Look at that. Perfect message board courtesy between MrMastadonFarm and ForeverFlameFan. I think this is the first time in history an internet dispute ended in peaceful and polite resolve.
