Young players always seem to suck at faceoffs. If you look at the rookie list for face-offs - virtually all of them are below 50%

At least Monahan is beating Lindholm
Anyways back to Janko, heard he needs to do some beefing up.

Add Colborne to the list of players that need to beef up. Dude is a twig. He definitely skips leg day with chicken legs like that.

Agreed.. Especially since he seems to be trying to play more physical lately.. He might surprise us next year. I'm hopeful.

Jankowski and the Friars wrapped up their regular season yesterday with a win and sealed 3rd in the Hockey East conference and a first round bye.
Because Jankowski missed a few games last season with a minor injury he has matched his games played totals from last year which is 34 games, so we are at a point where we can easily compare his stats between last year and this year.

In addition to those numbers Jankowski raised his goal total from 7 to 11, a 57.1% increase so far.

So I guess it's time to ask.
Any chance Jankowski turns pro now? Can he play at the AHL level?

Nah. I imagine he will be in college four years.

Definitely another year of college, but it's too early to assume a 4th year.
If he bulks up and progresses, I could see turning pro after next season. It's also pretty easy to finish the degree if you get 3 years in.

But of course, that all depends on his progression

My guess is that Gillies and Jankowski return to college for one more year.
With Gaudreau likely going pro along with Arnold and Hayes, Boston College could regress a bit next year, while Providence's young team will be one year older and will have a good chance at winning Hockey East and doing well in the NCAA tournament.

After that, I could see them both turning pro after next season.

I think there is very little chance Jankowski turns pro this summer. He will put in his junior year and try to take the #1 centre role from Mauermann while continuing to be a key faceoff and defensive player for the Friars.

I will be impressed if he can translate that path to 17-20 goals next year. There's really no reason he shouldn't based on how likely it is that providence will be one of the top teams.

I don't think its necessarily up to Jankowski compared to guys that are clearly above their competition in the NCAA like Gaudreau, Arnold and Gillies.

If the Flames aren't overly impressed with his development as a first round pick, they surely won't be trying to bring him up from college early. Not saying they are or are not but I can't see them in an hurry to bring someone up that can easily benefit from lower competition in the NCAA compared to pro for a few more years.

Oh I totally agree. IF he bulks up and is able to be dominant, then he could get a contract after next season. But that is a big if.

If he bulks up? Jankowski is 6'3 186 pounds. Monahan is 6'2 185 pounds. A my kid at 19 is going to see a weight gain, so I don't get all the concern over Jankowski's weight. Can't wait to see him at development camp in July so people will see the growth in his game and his stature first hand.

Not disagreeing, but curious where you got those numbers from?

Hockeydb shows:
Monahan @ 6'2'', 187 lbs
Jankowski @ 6'3'', 175 lbs

And if he still is 175 lbs, he's got a lot of bulking up to do.

When I was 19 I was 5'' shorter than Jankowski, but same weight. And no I wasn't chubby.
