You have to remember that it's a forward in that position, not a defencemen. Even the best defensive forwards struggle without a stick to cover wide.

It's very, very easy to walk around a forward who is standing still or skating towards you.

But even easier when a forward isn't there. I just think you're fundamentally underestimating the utility of a player simply occupying space and closing gaps.

Yeah, it's easier, but the alternative is equivalent to walking around 2 small pylons.

Much more effective to quickly skate the the bench and pick up a stick from a trainer and turn back. Takes 3 seconds.

Wild- Chicago has the most players able to play the full year so far which is 8. Injury plagued league.
