I am assuming this is also about controlling liquor fueled violence in the stands, helping prevent outside beverages from entering the stadium.

Because I want to. I am an upstanding citizen. It is the intent of how anything is used which used that can make an ordinary tool into a weapon.

Should all the cooks undergo felony background checks? Should the staff at the Fan Attic have to receive specialized training and licensing to have a pair of five inch scissors in their presence?

What I do, is my choice. If I cut the tags off of a new jersey then great. Shorten a straw for my kid, or cut off a hang nail ... it is my own bloody business.

Reason is booze. There's been more incidents this year it seems than the last 3 or 4 seasons combined, up in the PL level...and not just the usual rivalry games, it seems more run of the mill games has people bringing full bottles of the hard stuff in and acting like idiots by halfway through the 2nd period.

All the power to you, I guess..

Personally, I have never thought of bringing a knife to a public event.

I don't usually bring a purse with me to games but when I have, it was searched more thoroughly at Flames games than when I've been down in the States. Must be because it's giant. Never really thought about the fact that there's a knife in there and scissors in there lol (farm kid).

Enjoy not flying or going to any professional sporting events then mang. You stuck it to them real good.

If i can share some advice from my crazy ex co-worker who used to always carry a multi tool with a 3" blade...

"If they catch you with a blade, they will make you pay. So make sure you don't get arrested with one on you"

I remember a lady getting upset and throwing the contents of her purse at one of the security guards at the home opener. It was quite odd!

I think this is common practice in Vancouver already. I've been to games there in the past, and they were thoroughly searching bags. They had tables set up for it outside the doors.

This is a total money grab. A means to curb outside concessions....of course they will cloak it in the 'safety' argument, but really we know that they are on a Twizzler shake down.

Has anyone had anything taken away during one of these security checks? Since I don't carry a purse, I haven't even been stopped once this season.

My wife has walked in with a purse many times without being searched this season. I have also seen a few people searched. Usually most the searching happens at concerts, but im all for everyone being searched. Eventually everyone will have to walk through metal detectors too.
