I'll admit I have a warped fascination for the absolute lunacy that is the Republican Party of America. They have completely lost touch with reality and seem to be amping up the insanity, especially in the last couple of days. Here is the latest from Iowa Republican Steve King. I had to check to make sure this was real and not a comedy website. You just can't make this stuff up. He stood up in Congress and basically said America should be imposing Christian values, as in Christopher Columbus Christian values, on Latin America. The latest in several WTF moments from the now completely off the rails GOP.

Yep. There was a dermatologist down here who was well-respected, had his own TV show etc.
He switched to law because he was tired of treating gays. Of course he didn't come out and say that, but word got around.
Before I knew that this guy was such a creep, I sent a gay friend of mine to him. The doctor was so abusive to my friend that he almost left in tears.

I could barely contain my laughter at Melvin. Is this guy for real? Here he is on Anderson Cooper, what an absolute embarrassment. Claims there is no discrimination in Arizona.

That interview is pretty epic, this guy was once quoted talking about how Education standards were ridiculous because they had math with letters in it, I sh*t you not.

My favourite part of the interview was when he said that the traditional family unit is under attack, but no one would discriminate against a divorced woman or single mother.

Well even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Letters belong in English class, numbers belong in Math class. There aren't numbers in the middle of Shakespeare, thus there shouldn't be letters in the paragarium theorm.
for the love of God, if you don't realize that is sarcastic please turn in your keys to the internet

My favourite was when Cooper asked him for examples of people's religious freedom being trampled "Uh, I don't have any, maybe tomorrow?"

Finally got a chance to watch it, wow.
I mean I get that Anderson is asking pointed questions to guide things the way he wants, but still it's not like he's asking "have you stopped beating your wife".

Sadly, the guy will likely get easily elected, as old retired white guys continue to move to Arizona. Jon Stewart can extend his career for years just using soundbites from this guy and his paranoid cronies. Arizona is quickly becoming a punchline.

That doesn't really say much about the people of Arizona who actually voted for this guy.

If you want to be governor, you have to expect that people will ask basic questions about legislation you are defending. I think Anderson blew him out of the water when he mentioned that Arizona doesn't allow gay marriage or have anti-discrimination laws in effect against LGBT. So he can't use New Mexico as a legitimate reason.
I'm shocked he couldn't come up with a single good reason why this legislation is a good idea (besides the Republican talking point 'religion is under attack'). He did zero prep for this interview and got mauled.
But he deserved it.

I love at the end, he wouldn't answer the questions and then said he knew AC was setting him up.

Ran into this story. Thought it kind of fits in this thread.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...n-lee/5921401/
Quote:
Volunteer searchers found the body of Alfred Wright, a 28-year-old physical therapist from Jasper, Texas, on Nov. 25 in a field 25 yards from the Sabine County, Texas, liquor store where he was last seen on Nov. 7. Searchers found him missing an ear and some teeth. His throat was slit. Some reports indicate both eyes also were gone.

Seems black men can still get into all kinds of wacky accidents in smalltown Texas.
