LOL
http://www.videogamer.com/news/micro...price_cut.html
Microsoft has said that it's "hugely appreciative" of those who picked up an Xbox One at launch, but clarified that it "can't offer a retroactive refund" to those upset about this week's price cut.
"Unfortunately we can't offer a retroactive refund to people, but we thank them very much and we're hugely appreciative of them being on board since the beginning."

Probably LOL at Microsoft, everything they do is illogical, didn't you hear? They should offer every gamer a refund just for releasing a product that isn't a playstation.

Of course. Who the heck buys technology without knowing early adopter problems!
Especially "expecting" - one can ask at least with the "hope" I guess.

I don't think many expected a Microsoft price drop coming this early...I thought the PS4 would outsell it but didn't think it would be by such a wide margin

I personally don't care about the console sales as I'm more disturbed by the lack of games for the PS4 and XBone currently. Both have been collecting dust as there's simply nothing to play and it sounds like Thief is a dud. These consoles have gone essentially three months without a solid title retail title released (Tomb Raider may count for some that didn't play it the first time around). Sucks and I wouldn't blame anyone for sticking with current consoles as Dark Souls II will likely be the best game released in the coming months and it's not a next gen title.

Prior to launch, surveys were pretty heavily skewed towards the PS4 around the world. Remember this Gamespot map or the Amazon survey? Heck, even the poll in this thread is a bit of a landslide. The counter argument was the potential for a massive flood of xbox fans or uninformed customers that would follow over with their "Call of Duty dudebros" and push the tide back for the Xbone.
It's been interesting to watch PR wise. I'm still curious if they'll do another 180 and pull out the Kinect at some point.

Yup, but early adopters (like many of us sods ) probably should know that going in. I trust the famine won't be as long or as bad as the Wii U though!
Also agree, Dark Souls is going to be keeping me busy rather than anything on the next (or is it "current") gen.

MGS is a two hour game so it's hard to get overly excited about a game you can finish in one evening. As far as Infamous goes I've played them and they are fun for a few days and then get repetitive and boring and previews to date say the new game is pretty well the same gameplay with high resolution graphics. If you liked the old ones I'm sure you will love it but if you didn't there's not going to be anything there to convert you. I'll probably get it because I need something to play but it's not high on my anticipation list.
I've been so bored that I broke down and downloaded Madden 25 for PS4 which is a big disappointment. Graphics barely look better than the last 360 version I have played and the balance is poor as the passing game is actually pretty good but the running game is way too easy to exploit. All I see online is people using the Seahawks and 49ers and continuously running option or HB toss plays for big gains over and over so you have to essentially run a spread Dime formation most of the time even on 1st down to contain outside runs which opens up the middle so it's just a cycle of getting beat up the middle or the edges.

Same thing. I play Fifa...a lot so at least I'm getting to play a next gen game. I got Forza essentially just because and then remembered why I don't own any racing games. But that's it. Waiting for the next game. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. And Waiting some more.... It's also why I'm waiting waiting waiting waiting and waiting some more to get a PS4.
It's tough hearing about Thief not being good. I loved that game and was excited when I heard they were resurrecting the series.

Meh, it doesn't bother me - if I was buying it for releases in the first couple months I wouldn't have bought it at all. There's been plenty to play on PS3, 3DS, and Vita.
Heck, even my Wii U has been getting some heavy use. The new Donkey Kong is awesome!
There will be tons of awesome games to come out on PS4 in the next 6+ years, a couple months without one is nothing too concerning.

Gone Home is one of my favourite gaming experiences of all time. It took me 1 hour and 28 minutes to play through it.
It's about quality. Also, the 2 hour run time has people completing the game with very low completion percentages - so who knows what you have to do to 100% the game.
I'm stoked for MGS and inFamous. TitanFall will be rad as hell too.
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is a blast as well.

Latest numbers are in. With the numbers from the Japanese launch, PS4 has now outsold the Wii U.

Even Polygon is calling out Kinect:
http://www.polygon.com/2014/2/17/541...kinect-pack-in
The Xbox One is $100 more expensive than the PlayStation 4, and Sony's less expensive system is showing off its power with a series of third-party games that perform better on the PlayStation 4 than the Xbox One. What you're given for this extra money, outside of lower graphical performance, is a confusing user interface that can be controlled via the Kinect. This isn't the best situation for Microsoft's next-generation system
The Kinect for the Xbox One is a sophisticated, expensive piece of equipment that adds very little to the act of playing games. I'm able to get voice commands to work around 80 percent of the time, but my wife and children have much worse luck.
It's neat when it works, but the time saved can be measured in seconds, and it's just as likely that you're stuck repeating the same phrase over and over trying to get it to pick up your command. This is before you start dealing with false positives and entire regions where voice commands are unavailable at all. Voice commands need to work 100 percent of the time and offer flexibility in how they're delivered, and the Xbox One provides neither.
"I watched the Super Bowl with friends this year. At the beginning of the game, during a big play, we jumped to our feet. Kinect mistook this for a hand gesture, loading the gesture overlay over the football game. In a rush to get the overlay to disappear, I accidentally paused the television," Polygon's Chris Plante told me. He had to stop eating in front of the television, because the Kinect would bring up the gesture overlay every time he raised the fork.
"Every day I hear the following: 'Xbox, watch TV. Xbox, WATCH TV. Oh, screw you, Xbox," Justin McElroy wrote.
Anecdotal evidence from the Polygon water cooler suggests that the Kinect may be one of the most hated pieces of equipment in current use, especially among spouses.
The sight of a family member getting frustrated with the Kinect before giving up and finding a controller is common. On the other hand, you have no choice but to pay for this frustration. I've long since disconnected my own Kinect hardware to avoid these issues, and now it sits in the closet, gathering dust. This is an act that Microsoft originally told me would be impossible, since the Xbox One was designed with the Kinect in mind.
That attitude is presumptuous and consumer-hostile. Why not have Microsoft and developers create something that compels people to pick up the hardware first, and then see how well it does? Pushing a product on the public with the hope that it will be useful once we have it is a cruel inversion of how product adoption should be handled.
The forced pack-in proves something we already knew at the beginning of this generation: Almost no one would want to buy the Kinect separately if they were given the choice.

And here are the March Free games as per IGN:
If you own a PlayStation 3, you’ll get last year’s popular Tomb Raider reboot for free, a game we absolutely loved. In addition, indie games Thomas Was Alone (another great game) and Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut (also great) are also free.
Finally, if you’re gaming on PS Vita, you can look forward to a free copy of Unit 13, the criminally underappreciated third person shooter, and the swan song from former Sony-owned studio Zipper Interactive. The PSP game Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite will also be free, though it’s playable not only on PSP, but on Vita as well.

I really want to "want" a PS4, but there's just nothing appealing to play on it right now if you ask me. I love a good campaign as much as the next guy, but I tend to only play through story modes once or maybe twice and then shelf the game or turn to a multiplayer mode (Mass Effect being an exception...can't count the number of times I went through that). I just find it odd that MS is being lamented for relying so heavily on a multiplayer-only game at this stage, while both of Sony's big hitters for 2014 (iNfamous and The Order) are single player only experiences.
Both games will no doubt be good, but I can't justify paying the 400 bucks for another system right now for what will likely amount to one or two playthroughs of a third person action title. I tend to get far more mileage out of a game like Titanfall at the end of the day.

It's another by-product of Microsoft's shoddy marketing research and development strategy. Microsoft has long been known to try to catch the competition. In the case of Kinect, Microsoft saw how well the Wii was doing and thought they'd make a boat load of money off of casuals by forcing Kinect bundling. Problem is they reacted way too late and a lot of the casuals had already moved onto mobile.
