				Let's see your penmanship.

Slow day here today, and I decided to hand write a thank you letter, and for the first time in ages, I tried to use cursive. It didn't go so well. Upload a sample of your handwriting using the following phrase:
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

First in cursive.
Then in standard caps/small letters.
Lastly in your normal everyday butchered handwriting style you developed for whatever reason.

Just go at a normal pace, don't try and be 'perfect'.

Here's mine:

It took me 3 x as long for each the first two lines, than it did for the last which came out much neater.

I have dozens of bank forms I deal with daily which I have no choice to fill out with hand writing. Plus I have to sign 200-300 documents a week. What would you do if a walk in clinic or hospital handed you a clip board and pen? Demand a tablet?

I admire people with nice penmanship. Don't see it too often and when I do, it's usually seniors in their 70's (ie. old school). I print in capital/small caps most of the time now, a habit started from university note taking years. If I try write in cursive, I'd write like most doctors' handwritten prescriptions.

Yeah, my fathers penmanship is f'ing amazing. He was a draftsman/engineer and he worked in the days of slide rules and pencils. His handwriting is like art, and looks like that amazing 50's/60's old school blueprint style.

I love my dad's penmanship too. He was on a CBC segment almost a year ago and they have a quick clip of his writing in a commercial that regularly airs during HNIC. I never knew they were doing that and the first time I spotted it, I had to rewind. Sure enough, it was his. I love seeing it there.

My penmanship is horrible and I refuse to use cursive writing, except when doing my signature, obviously.

As you were...

Way back in JH I had a teacher hand me back a report and told me they couldn't read my hand writing. Since that time I have always printed.

When I was in high school, the guidance councillor was trying to see what career we would be best at. So we had to do these multiple choice "tests" and write an essay about what we were passionate about. I was called in to his office for our discussion. He told me "Based on your essay, I think you should either go into computer or become a doctor. Because I couldn't read a word of it."
In any case....

The first line is with my right hand, the second is with my left.

I have horrible handwriting. I had to spend hours practicing it, with little improvement. I don't think I could write cursive if I tried, and frankly I don't miss it at all.

I do appreciate good penmanship when I see it though. It's becoming a lost art, but isn't really useful any more.

I recently found some old workbooks of mine from grade 3 that my mom saved. My printing was neater then than it is now.

I've also never been able to hold a pen/pencil "properly" it's always felt weird to me

My handwriting morphed into a combination of cursive, regular printing, and all caps. I usually use all caps for forms, but if I'm writing down a list or notes, it's the horrible ####### child of doctor's cursive, and a 6 year old's printing.

Edit - basterd is edited here? But we can say bitch? That's sexist.

No, actually, he has it right. It's "jumps". The line was used for testing typewriters to ensure all the keys worked. So to test the letter s you need to have "jumps".

I do remember typing that line over and over in typing class so that we could get used to using all the keys. BTW - that typing class was probably the most useful course I took in high school.
