I think it's finally time to delete the Walking Dead from my PVR. I've held on for a long time because when WD was good it was GOOD, but I haven't seen any episode really worth my time since season 3. It hasn't been BAD, but the show is just so damn average lately.
It reminds me a lot of Sons of Anarchy around when I stopped watching. Average writing, cyclical plots, and a dependence on shock to stay interesting.
I don't know, that's my rant I guess. I'm just struggling to stay interested in the show (especially having read the comics and having a decent idea where certain story lines go).

I think he chocked him out, instead of murdering him.

That was a much better episode than the first two. Nice to see a few people acting 'normal'. It would really tax a person to walk around so angry all the time. I understand you need to be hard to survive in this world, but you have to hold on to at least a shred of your humanity as well or what is the point.

Yeah, they spoke about that on The Talking Dead because I was wondering myself why he didn't turn. He did a sleep type hold on him...didn't kill him.
I come into this thread after every episode just to see the rants about the show. I leave feeling satisfied, but at the same time wonder why people keep watching a show they clearly don't like. Last night's episode had intense and suspenseful scenes, good character development and some funny dialogue. Not to mention zombies. Really not sure what people want.

Seems every week there are more posts threatening to stop watching than actual discussion on the show. We get it you think the show is stupid, feel free to stop posting in this tread now unless you are adding to the discussion.

Amen.
The dialogue is starting to become extremely cliche. I'm glad they're out of the prison now, but it's really starting to lose me. It's falling behind some other shows IMO (i.e., Justified, The Americans, Game of Thrones, Hell on Wheels, etc.)
Abraham and his crew are so dumb looking. They look like something from a 70s war movie.
I will, however, say that I'm really liking the way Michonne's character is developing. She seems to be opening up a little bit, joking around. You can just sort of tell that her opening up to Rick and Carl will bite her in the ass somehow. Just speculation.
All in all, the show's losing me. I'm watching it for entertainment to waste an hour at night, but it's falling.

Or like something you would see in a comic book? I've never opened a page of a Walking Dead comic book, I just assume that these characters pretty much match what was drawn.
And I thought that was a little fun. This show has tried to be so 'real' and gritty, if this comic book troupe can bring a few laughs, I welcome it.
Also,

How about well developed characters? Avoidance of exaggerated cliches? Some sort of creativity that stops the show from just hitting the exact same notes over and over.
I get it, Rick doesn't want to be leader, Rick leads anyway, Rick is defeated, Rick doesn't want to be leader, Rick leads anyway, Rick is defeated, Rick doesn't want... etc.
Maybe it's because zombies aren't all that interesting after 4 seasons. Maybe it's because I know where the Abraham arc goes. I don't know. But what I want? I just want the show that it's fully capable of being. The show that it hasn't been for at least a season, maybe two.

I don't think the show is stupid, and I'll post here to discuss this show in whatever fashion I'd like. I'm absolutely contributing to the discussion, are you? Tell me what's great about it? Tell me why this season is worth it? Because so far, it's the worst season yet. I never said it was a bad show, so no, I don't think it's "stupid," I'm just frustrated by a show with such high potential falling into the same trap that SOA did. I like the way Michonne is developing (as Pierre said), but it's coming at the expense of characters like Rick and Daryl who are just sort of spinning their wheels.

Yes I usually contribute to the discussion, it's hard to comment on recent events due to reading the comics. Things have been said that I would like to comment on, but I do not want to spoil things or speculate because of my comic knowledge.
All I am saying is it's getting old that people keep posting "this show is stupid, I'm going to stop watching." Either stop watching or stop complaining.

Is there really another reason to watch a zombie show?

once more, everyone say it with me: "guilty pleasure"! this show has never been a masterpiece from the very start, so I don't know why that's expected of it now. from my point of view it has all the same problems that it did 4 years ago, and a revolving door of writers and showrunners hasn't made much difference so I'm taking it as is.
yes, 80% of the time the characters are annoying, act illogically, find themselves in the same predicaments, and are frequently victim to wonky performances. but usually something happens in each episode that has a glimmer of coolness, so I'll stay around as long as that keeps going.
and finally, the comics themselves are definitely not award winning stuff either. just like the show, it's often issue after tedious issue of characters going in circles, punctuated by the occasional awesome moment. I can only fault the show to a point when the source material itself has some real limits.

That makes more sense, I guess if he killed him he wouldn't have gone to sleep next to the corpse either.

Bingo, and they showed a shot of the passed out breathing fella as well.

Yeah I thought it was obvious because they even did a close up of his face and chest for a few seconds, showing it moving. But then someone posed the question on Talking Dead, so I guess it wasn't super obvious. The one I wasn't sure about was the guy Rick took out in the bathroom. After he cracked that door open a little I figured though.
That scene in the little girl's room definitely disturbed the hell out of me. That was the holy #$% moment of the episode for me.

Bang on. The show is what it has been all along. Never was it ever going to win awards for acting, dialogue or character development. It's just damn fun to watch and anyone can die at any time.

Yes, they're shown exactly as they're drawn in the comics. Problem is they're ridiculous looking in the comics, and doubly so when it's live action. The governor was the same way in the comics, yet they toned him down for the show and made a far better character out of it. It just seems like there's no unified direction for the show, like a bunch of different writers all trying to get their piece in with no regard for what anyone else has done

Why do the characters still try to clean out the houses by being quiet? This makes no sense. They're banging on the doors to alert any people before hand, cause they're the good guys and don't want to steal like the bad guys, instead, 'asking' to be let in, but then creep around the rooms to surprise zombies? Gaaaa!
I can see wanting to be quiet if you want to surprise humans, but not the zombies. The heroes have learned how to take out small numbers hand to hand, you'd want to hear them, know where they are, instead of poking your head in a new room and getting pounced by a 'lurker'.
Lastly, as I said, they are already noisy going into the house, so they've already most likely ruined their advantage.
I know it's a false way to build suspense but ehhhh...
And yeah, maybe we're expecting too much, just had to get it off my chest.
