Spectacular game by the most dominating Canadian team I've watched in all my years watching hockey. Not a single weakness throughout that lineup, and a coaching staff that will forever be the envy of the hockey world. Price is the goalie of now and the future. Our D might be the greatest group ever assembled in the history of the game. Every single forward is a star capable of taking over a game. Yet they all gelled together so perfectly that I don't even think it was fair for any other team in the tournament. So proud of this team!!

Just read an article on TSN about Toews and I came across this piece.

Quote:
Toews is so respected around the league for his winning accomplishments that even Sidney Crosby, the game's top player, checked with his Chicago counterpart before accepting the captaincy for Team Canada. He wanted to make sure Toews, a winner of two Cups to just one for Crosby, was okay with it.

Very interesting. Only 26 and he's got 2 Cups and 2 golds. Toews was one of our most noticeable and consistent forwards all tournament.

Only negative about the tournament, IMO, is that we had a best-on-best tournament played on Russian soil and we didn't get Canada v. Russia.

Even if the Russian team cracked under the pressure, the atmosphere alone would have made it worthwhile.

And a Conn Smyth and a MVP of the Olympics last time. Oh, and a Selke. Oh, and was a 19 year old captain

I wouldn't mind the tournament moving to something like what the womens was this year

put the top teams in one group, they all advance, essentially just playing for byes

while the other group is playing to advance

I've always loved the play of Carey Price. I remember defending him vehemently in those old Price/Halak debates here on CP. Nobody is perfect and there are struggles sometimes, Price is a beauty.

Lol at the Team Canada hoodies for sale with this slogan: "White and red till I'm cold and dead" - complete with a grim reaper. How white trash. Betting that Grande Prairie snaps them all up.

Men winning hockey gold is the pinnacle of the Winter Olympics, but I will admit I was much more emotional after the women won.

How many players at 26 years of age had already secured their first year ballot into the HHOF? It's insane to think of what he's already won while still just entering his prime

3 goals against the entire tournament tells the story how solid Price was the D in front of him and the relentless back checking. What a performance.
Toews, Weber, Doughty, and Price were MVP's

I personally have never seen a more dominating team. Two PERFECT games when it mattered most.

How many turnovers did they force? They were like a brick wall. Amazing.

Babcock really had them buying in and it was something to see.

I'll admit, while I did think Price was the best pick for the number one job, but I was worried with the goaltending in general for Canada this year. Glad to see I have nothing to worry about anymore, good job Price!

lol that puckluck quote is hilarious. Hope it will live on in infamy like s7ark's robbie shremp quote or henriksedin33's quote about wanting to play the Kings in the first round.

Good stuff. Wish he would make a sock account to defend himself.
