Tubby Man Don't Like dem Skateboards!
http://www.break.com/index/skatevsguy23.html
**swearword alert**
I thought it was funny. Mr. Swollenshirt outsmarted by and then assaults a 13 year-old boy.
Congratulations jackass, you are famous. Do your kids a favour though and don't drag them along next time you make a fool of yourself. Also, do your dog a favor and don't try to kill it when you are trying to steal someone else's property.

If they were putting wax on bricks the brats should be booted off.
If not, the old dude is in the wrong. I think its likely that either himself or one of his kids slipped on it and that is why he is ****ed. It is unlikely a guy like that (high socks, backpack, dog on leash, kids) would go after them for no reason.
It reminds me of the a$$es in Pricess Elizabeth Park who right when you cross the bridge from the YMCA they are jumping off the stairs and when you keep walking (since bikers/skatboarders dont have the right of way) they get ****ed at you. I know from experience that kids (age 13-17) tend to be quite brattish and frequently swear. If you were in a bad mood, it wouldnt take much of that to put you over the edge.

AHAHA, what a dumb *******. I hate annoying skater kids but that guy was a full out loser.
I love how that one kid owned up, what the hell? He's just a kid, are you crazy?? haha
The tubby dude should know that he has absolutely no right to tell anyone what to do, call security, call the cops but don't beat up a teenager because he didn't listen to you... with your kids right there. Ragdolling your little puppy to boot.

The thing is, the skater dudes although trying to annoy the security guy... If the security guy just shut up and didn't say "Next time i'll break your arm" it wouldn't have escalated.

The security guy comes off as the real jerk there. He wanted to start a fight with those guys. He should have lost his job for that.

Not sure if anyone is interested in skate vids, but in the "DC Video" Rob Dyrdek goes out and hires a bodyguard for such eventls like this.
Don't want me to skate here, and feel like getting rough? Talk to my 300lb personal security officer.
It's pretty hilarious.

while the security gaurd was being a jerk, and shouldn't have said the "next time I'll break your arm" for that he should lose his job. Again once they left the property and were on the sidewalk the security gaurd should have walked away, or said nothing as he watched them leave.
Things escalated because of him, and frankly that doesn't keep the property nor the people using it secure (which is his job).
However, the kid with the skateboard provoked the physical voilence, by using his skateboard to hit the security gaurd (when he puts it down, he then uses it to nudge the gaurd) which caused the gaurd to take the skateboard, as a result the kid then went after the gaurd with phsyical force (within his rights I suppose) and that's where the physical confrontation started.
So, in the end YES the security gaurd should lose his job, but NOT for the phsyical violence against the kid, I would have had him fired long before that, and if the kid had have just used the skateboard in the way he did in the start I wouldn't have fired the guard for the physical voilence, however he probably should have had some sort of "backup" with him, be it other gaurds, or if he's escorting someone off the property like that, the police so if things get physical the proper authorities are there.
****
As for the first video, if they're waxing bricks and MY kid fell because of it... I don't know what I would do. What I do know is that I wouldn't have that stupid little backpack on my back, nor would I go to physical voilence (unless the sk8r boi's (like the Avril reference) directly assulted my kids) with my kids around. Maybe I'd pick up their skateboard, and show them my mad skillz, you know skate off for control of the park!

Just so you know, wax goes on about a one half inch strip along the edge of the ledge. Wax is applied to help the trucks (axles) slide against rough surfaces such as bricks reducing the friction and damaged caused to the Trucks, brick and or concrete etc. There is no possible way that anyone slipped on the wax. First, It is not applied to the stairs. Secondly, If you were to step on it it has an almost tacky feel and would cause the reverse effect unless it was wet, which it was not.

I'm a former skater from way back, and it is a crime if it's done without permission on private property. Go to the skate park if you want to grind something.

I'm siding with the dad. The little brats don't have any respect for anyone or anyones property. He should have snapped the board in half and sent the kids home crying.

The adults show a severe lack of maturity and the kids all need a good beating*! If my kid showed that kind of attitude and disrespect, they wouldn't be skateboarding for a long time.
*by beating I mean timeout.

Interestingly enough, when Millenium was built there was a problem with kids wrecking curbs/scaring grannies while on their way to the park. It was solved by approaching the skate community, and resolving the problem in a civil manner. Snapping boards and threats of violence wouldn't have worked, and the city knew it. Local skaters also knew if they didn't do something about the problem they would lose the support of the city and their park.
A mutual agreement was achieved through civil approach on both sides, which in the cases of both videos wasn't attempted.

You are very right, but they dont have the right to add wax to public property if it isnt designated a skate park.
Also I must have watched a different video because the old guy who "bull-rushed" the kids didnt look like a security guard, he looked like some sort of soccer dad.
All I am saying is that video wasnt the whole story - a guy in knee high socks with kids and a dog on a leash doesnt attack a kid for no reason, else the guy needs to lay off the vicadin.

I didn't condone the idiot security guard's actions, just pointed out that the world is not everyone's skate park.

Hey, no worries. I wasn't aiming anything at you in particular, I was more or less just pointing something out that happened a few years ago.

They weren't his kids... no adult has the right to tell other kids what to do. Except maybe teachers at school.
Get someone with real authority to deal with it, don't be Mr. Hero for your kids and end up looking like a jackass the rest of your life to them.
