I can't shake the sense that the US match was basically the real final, and this one is going to be anticlimactic.
So on that note, I plan to sleep in til the third period. 4AM west coast time is just too friggen early.

Isn't 5:00 AM Mountain early as well, 6:00 am Central? The Pacific start is better since many will get home from the bars after 3:00 am, get their munchies ready, and get pumped for the game. I know some people in Alaska and they like the fact that the game starts at 3:00 AM there. For those vacationing in Hawaii, it's a 2:00 AM start. Some Europeans have said the same thing with the Sweden-Finland game being the big game for them. Some said the Red Sox-Yankees series where Boston came back from 0-3. The Red Sox-Cardinals World Series was not as thrilling.

Don't worry, at some point a lot longer ago then I'd care to admit I seemed to change from being the college kids in that scene to Will Ferrels character overnight. Old just snuck up and got me

Call me old and out of touch...but there is no way you need a reservation to watch this game at 5am.

I'm sick of people saying this. Not just CP'ers, but all over the net, and including the CBC pundits.
It takes away from the non Canadian/American teams that made it fair and square to the final. They worked their arses off, put in their time, played as a team, and won their place in the final.
Sorry to say, but the gold medal game is the gold medal game. Biggest hockey rivalry in the world or not. If Canada somehow drops this game, the whole nation is going to feel how 'real' this game really was.

Set my phone, set the PVR, went to bed at 8 and forgot the phone in the other room. Woke up needing to piss, due to usual prostrate problem and only missed the first 8 minutes.
