Yup that team was widely criticized for not showing up in the Bronze medal game and they still get mentioned sometimes.
Hell Eric Duhatashuk just mentioned it on twitter.

If Burke manages to pull the Flames up to 4th in the NHL standings, I'll be satisfied.

Spectacular game from Finland. After losing their top 3 centers, they absolutely dominate the Americans. There are lots of American players I like, but I found great pleasure in watching Kesler and Kane lose in such fashion. Congrats to Finland, who showed what team play is all about. What a send-off for perhaps the greatest Olympic ice hockey player of all-time. In a way, I'm glad Finland won bronze instead of silver. With silver, you lose the game you want to win. But with bronze, you end up winning your last game. Also, Maata and Granlund are such awesome players. Nice to see a passing of the torch and Finland work their way into the elites of the hockey world.

Wonder if Burke or Polie had dreams about getting slaughtered in the bronze medal game while scoring 0 combined goals in two elimination games.

You'd think that eventually Kesler would get tired of constantly losing.

The guy helped assemble a great team that had a great tournament, having him running our ship seems like a good thing to me.
It's not right, but let's not pretend the US approach a bronze medal game any differently than Canada does. They aren't here to medal, they are here to win gold, just like we are. The Fins come to medal, don't underestimate how badly that impacts the mentality and result of this game.
All that matters is the medals, but from a pure analysis perspective, Burke and team assembled at the very least the 2nd best team in this tourney, and based on what we saw if every country played each other in a 7 game series, I'm pretty confident in saying the US beats every country except Canada guaranteed, and the Canada series is a coin toss that goes 7.
Good job by Burke and his team putting together a great team.

Glad Finland won. I hate USA and Russia with the same passion I hate the Oilers and Canucks. No medals for our biggest rivals makes me a very happy hockey fan.
Hopefully our Granlund and Ortio can crack the Finnish team line-up in 2018 (assuming the NHL goes).

I just love seeing Ryan "Beast Mode" Kesler be a complete non-factor in huge games against decent teams.
Suck it Kesler, now go back to Vancouver and continue to lose you little b****

In the least shocking news of the day, Deadspin completely quiet on the "US gets dominated" front.

Jason Brough @JasonPHT:
Jonathon Quick, not happy: "We're professionals. We play back-to-backs all year long. There's no reason we show up and not piss a drop."
Ouch.

Granlund might have a chance but for Ortio to crack the Finnish line-up he might have to be a top 10 goalie in the world, given Finland's goaltending depth.
