Default Flag Bearer?

So, with the final days of the Olympics approaching who do you think will carry the Canadian flag in the closing ceremonies? Nobody has really stood out this year (not like Cindy Klassen in 2002 at any rate) so there are a few interesting options:

Alex Bilodeau - back to back gold medals
Kaillie Humphries & Heather Moyse - ditto
Gil Junio - gave up his spot for Morrison to skate
Denny Morrison - only Canadian with two individual medals
Marie-Philip Poulin - the Paul Henderson for the modern generation?
Justine Dufour-Lapointe - probably unlikely

I'd be leaning towards Humphries & Moyse only because we had Wickenheiser carry it for the opening and that could hurt Poulin's chances.

That Poulin chick.

Maybe her and Bilodeau can walk side by side and do it. Both were outstanding at these games.

I'm partial to Bilodeau. Maybe because he's in my favourite sport. Let his brother walk with him.

Drew Doughty and Shea Weber. But realistically Bilodeau or Humphries.

I'd lean toward Bilodeau or Humphries/Moyse. Although if the team pursuit guys are able to pull off a medal, Morrison's 3 medals make a solid case too, and his return from major injury and the story with Junio make his one of the great stories.

Bilodeau is back in Montreal as far as I know.

I'm thinking it will be Junio, but Poulin could get the nod as well (former face of women's hockey led Canada in, the future walks Canada out).

Jennifer Jones went 10-0 in the Olympics. First Canadian woman curler to do it. Kevin Martin did it for the mens in Vancouver. She should get consideration as well.

I'm happy for any choice to be honest. Really pleased with the efforts this year,

It should be Gil Junio hands down. What he did is what the spirit of the Olympics is (should be) all about

I think it should be Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse.
Accomplished something that's never been done in their sport and also as recognition for Humphries' accomplishments beforehand. Personally I think she deserved the Lou Marsh award.

My other choice would have been Jan Hudec but he just got back to Calgary.

Junio. No question. Him giving up his spot to a teammate that deserved to be there but fell in qualifications is what these games are about. There is no better example of sportsmanship and national pride in these games.

I thought of her, but to me she already gets so many accolades at home, and other things being equal I'd rather see lesser-known athletes get an opportunity to carry the flag.

I'd actually love to see Junio and Morrison carrying to together.

I thought about that too, but it seemed later that the coaches "gently persuaded" him to do it. Is that true?

Speed Skating Canada officials, knowing what a force Mr. Morrison is in the 1,000-metre, approached Mr. Junio on Monday night and asked him whether he would consider stepping aside. There was no debate.

It was an easy decision, Mr. Junio said. “I wanted to see him skate this 1,000-metre.”
