Cournoyer, who has only ever made one final in his entire career, makes it to the final of the 500m. Good for him.

Maltais slips on the final turn and misses the final. Pretty much sums up Canada in short track this Olympics.

Damn! Was really rooting for her.

I wonder what's up with all the falls?

They're trying to lean way more than normal. My guess is a lot of it is mental now, they want another win so badly they're making mistakes.

It's all mental, silly mistakes. They race circles for a living, so it's pretty disappointment when you are completely in the clear and fall. There's no excuse for it really.

Time for Cournoyer to pull a Bradbury.

Bronze medal for Cournoyer in 500m short track. Good day for Canada so far.

After what happened to Maltais, I was just hoping Cournoyer would stay on his feet after the Chinese skater went down.

Career best for Cournoyer results in a medal. That's what I like to see.

Yeah. By the gold medal metric we are now 3rd, same as total medals. Poor Germany - I think they have had it the worst, they were expected near the top.

I think 3rd is where we will finish, it really depends on Norway. They still lead by the gold metric, and they have the mass start cross-country races to go.

Yeah, but we got more than three medals in the six new events. I think Canada got way more silvers than in the past, but we definitely got less gold than last time.

So close with Luge, and then short track falls, we could easily be #1

Canada's haul for the day: 2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze, plus the victory in men's hockey means another guaranteed medal (hopefully gold) on Sunday.

It seems we start really fast, have kind of a lull in the middle, and finish strong in terms of medals.
