Default Canada will win, is in every way better than the USA at hockey.

Wow I can't believe the smugness in this article. It's one thing to think these things and maybe even trot them out on a message board, but to publish an article like this I think is too much.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...3984--nhl.html

Go Canada, looking forward to a good game.

I don't like Harrison Mooney at all but he's purposely trolling for effect, the article is tongue-in-cheek

Puck Daddy does this all the time, it's just embracing hockey's trash talk culture. Have you never read their playoff obituaries? Those are even more over the top and have the added element of kicking fans when they're down.

I don't understand how this flies over anyone's head though, when the writer says things like "The American roster is simply dotted with objectively bad people" and blames the financial problems of the city of Glendale on Blake Wheeler's refusal to sign an ELC with the Coyotes.

You guys really think he's serious? Really?

It is pretty obvious that the whole article is written in green text, however I don't like the possible bad karma that it may invite. Further more the article is pointless in its intent as far as I'm concerned.

Between this article's ability to backfire and the entire country probably burning out its collective supply of luck in that Women's game, I can't see things going too well tomorrow

In addition to the silly notion of karma in the first place, it would really only be considered "bad karma" to write something like that if it was Mike Babcock or someone from Team Canada penning that blog on the eve of a game.

Instead, it's a classic case of trolling for responses and to get noticed on the Interwebs, from a blogger, and someone and likely most have never even heard of, in order to attract article reads/forwards and site hits.

Eh, just a fun article...not to be taken seriously (except for the Kesler part). Can't wait for the morning...got a sick day for tomorrow! Going to make up some eggs benedict with hash browns and it's looking like I'll have a couple of beers left over to boot!

Ah, thread title led me to believe a poster was proclimating a win for tomorrows game and I gasped at the potential bad Karma. At least it wasn't redvan who made the thread. I would've cried.

And on to the article, meh. This is what twitter is to me now. Media people I am starting to discover are ridiculously arrogant. Thinking their opinion can change the world. Just look at the insane baseless bashing of the accomodations in Sochi. Athletes seem love them just fine... well except for maybe that american Bobsledder who keeps getting stuck in places.

anyone can win a 1 game series, having Quick in net makes the US a contender. We need a strong game.

I thought it was hilarious, and especially liked this bit here:

I can't say I disagree with much in the article. With regards to the hockey, it is difficult to see where Team USA holds any advantage, or even measures up to what Canada will ice today. I ordinarily would say that the US is better in goal, but Team Canada has yet to allow more than a single goal in a game in this tournament, so I'm not sure there is much of an advantage there either.

As a puck daddy reader, I can confirm this trolly style is a frequent occurrence and completely tongue in cheek. Mooney does also write slightly more serious analysis over the course of the season, whereas Ryan Lambert literally writes every single article in this clickbait fashion, unfailingly. In fact I'm certain that Mooney did this specifically as a Lambert impersonation.

Minute advantage at best but given the choice I'd take Quick over Price. That being said I'd take Canada's defense any day.

I just watched the USA v. Czech game from Wednesday in its entirety, and I have to say, I wasn't awed by what I saw. Team USA looked very beatable in that game, and I think managed to win by such a healthy margin in large part on the strength of some pretty fortuitous bounces.

They will NOT get the same kind of space or time with the puck in the offensive zone in today's game. They will NOT benefit from similar defensive breakdowns and guffaws from the goaltender. They will NOT have such an easy time defending against Canada's four-line deep offence like they did against the likes of Cervenka, Palat, Novotny, Nedved, and Hemsky.

It will be a great game today, and anyone who believes that Team USA will cruise through it is delusional.

Yeah but on the other side.... The United States isn't Latvia. Yes Latvia's goalie stood on his head but I think we both have to agree that Quick is a better goalie than he is. The United States has looked far and away a better team than Canada this tournament. Of course I thought the same thing in 2010 and I'm also American. I'm probably a bit biased... I did wear a Team Canada shirt today just so I could straddle the fence at home. My wife and I didn't talk for 4 days in 2010 after the gold medal game. This time I'm sucking up so I can say " See babe your country is so great at Hockey, that's why I wore their shirt the day before the game so I can cheer for your country and my country." However if the USA wins ..... imagine a Rodney Ruxin trash talk video from the league.

"Far and away"?! How do you figure?

In the preliminary round Team USA blew out marginal teams Slovenia and Slovakia. They played a close game with defensively inept and poorly coached Team Russia, and should have lost that game on the strength of the goal recalled in the third. They won in a circus-style shootout. In their semi final, they defeated equally defensively inept and even more poorly coached Czech. They looked very good, but like I said earlier, far from unbeatable.

In the preliminary round, Canada won all of their games, with one win in overtime. They blew out Austria, but managed only a 3–1 win against lowly Norway in their first game together. They were territorially dominant against a very good Finnish team in their 2–1 overtime win. The score in their semi-final game was ridiculously closer than it should have been.

For my money, I don't know how you can so confidently declare one of these teams as clearly superior in their play. Team USA has scored a lot, but Canada has only allowed 3 goals in the entire tournament.

No question, Team USA will be the biggest challenge Canada has faced in the tournament, and I haven't once disputed that. But let's not pretend that they have been prancing unimpeded in a show of hockey dominance to this semi final game. If every player plays the way that they can for both teams, Canada should win this game.
