True, but you also look across sports, and think of the most prominent teams, and majority of them keep a look everyone knows, that has remained the same for the most part over decades. Yankees, Red Sox, Packers, Giants, Celtics, Lakers. Even for teams that aren't as successful on the playing field as of late, still are one of the most prominent in the sports landscape; keeping financially strong. Rangers, Canadiens, Bruins, Cowboys.

I consider the logo to be the "brand." Colors change. When I think of a confused brand I would look at the Canucks mostly because they have changed their logo so many times, and still do. Their thirds have a different logo.
To me the flaming "C" will always be the brand, and that has always been consistent.
With that said, I like the retro colors and would be ok with that scheme as Calgary's primary colors. And a variation of the 2004 jersey as the third

All of our jerseys suck. Not just our third. Our '04 set was near perfect.

I think he was referring to corporate success, not necessarily on-ice success.

Black should never be part of our jerseys.

It has been part of the jerseys longer than it wasn't.

And I know I will get jumped all over for saying this -- but if you look like a joke of a team, you will be a joke of a team. The organization needs to set a standard and the entire look and feel of the uniforms and brand is part of it.

You bring up a great point. Our rafters are going to look weird. We have Lanny's retro jersey, Vernon's weird jersey, Forever a Flames times 2, then Iggy and Kipper will make their way up there.
They need to wear the retro white for away
retro red for home
2004 jersey as a 3rd

Which is why our Jerseys have sucked for 90% of the Flames existence.

They (quietly) revised Lanny and Vernie's retirement banners a few years back:

And to the surprise of absolutely nobody, two of those banners are godawful.

They were just using them for practice, and then to the trash right afterward because they are stinky.

I really like the 2004 jersey. I however like the retro home and away a lot more. The colors are right and brings more heritage and tradition to the Flames. I agree we do not need all these new designs and 3rd jerseys. Just keep it simple. I do not like all the black in our jersey's anymore. It was a nice change at first but the logos should go back to red or white.

This is exactly how I feel. The '04 jerseys are great, but the black C has worn off of me and should be the third logo, not the secondary one. The red and white C's are the ones I associate with more for the Flames brand.

I find it interesting that the Enterprise commercial that aired tonight (a brand new one) had the flames reto jersey in it. For a jersey that was supposedly retired it seems to be popping up a lot.
