There are more bets but once you are there you will figure it out. Sounds complicated but it isn't once yoou get going. You can always pick 0ne horse to finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd (win, place, or show)

Plus, especially if you go during the week, the people at the wager counters are very helpful if you're just starting out.
Same if you go to the OTB at Schanks.
Quinella's are pretty common and easy to bet...Triactors and Superfectas (pick the top 4 horses in order to finish the race....or the variant Box Superfecta to pick the top 4 horses in any order) are a lot tougher, but the payout is pretty good.
I was at Schanks a few weeks ago, and they have racing from New Jersey..a 130-1 longshot won, with a 50-1 longshot finishing second.
A 2$ quinella with those two horses would've gotten you close to 1000$, A triactor was 7000$, and a Superfecta was over 20000$, just on a lucky 2$ bet.
That said, there are a lot more horses (10+. thus a lot more combinations, equalling bigger odds) at the bigger tracks, as Stampede park has 5-7 horses usually per race. Still some fin, and you don't have to know anything about the horses to get lucky and make some decen money, even if just wagering casually.
