With MacDermid I suspect he's tired of the same olfd same old, but why ZM, WHY .....he's sat on the bench most of the season has hardly ever played as a defender, this year, there must be others somewhere who would contibute more. He has to be more than just a nice guy??????
RFP cracks me up, especially with the suggestions I am somehow part of the media. If he had any clue who I was, he would realize how hilarious and ridiculous those comparisons are and how insulting it is to PMM and Freeway to even put me in the same group as them.
The closest I am to the Heat is I have a picture with Roman Horak while he was on the Heat and my shoulder is touching his shoulder pad.

New Wednesday's with Ward is up. It sounds like Joni Ortio is not expected to rejoin the team for this weekends games. It sounds like Roy gets the starts. No word on backup goalie.

Any clarification on MacDermid? Did he not report because he was late/had an issue that day, or is this the beginning of getting his contract terminated?
Yeah your right .....why would you ever ask the question why.....just accept it at face value
So, what are you suggesting? He actually did report and the Heat are lying about it? He was told to not return and when he didn't, they suspended him? He was given the wrong directions to their next game?
The guy has played a total of 21 NHL games with three different teams over the last 3 seasons. He makes $70,000 a year in the AHL, so it's not like he's walking away from a massive contract.
Between his signing bonuses on his ELC and his AHL salary, he has made a half a million dollars over the last five years (plus significantly more for the few times he was on an NHL roster). He should have a decent amount left to go back to school, or pursue other interests.

Step 1: Guy doesn't show up.
Step 2: "Show up or we'll suspend you!"
Step 3: Suspend him. (No more cheques coming)
Step 4: "Show up or we'll put you on unconditional/termination waivers!"
Step 5: Terminate contract.
If a guy is late, there are a LOT of unofficial measures you can take on the team level. This is more serious.

That's what I thought from the get-go. NHL clubs don't file suspensions all willy-nilly. It's a step towards terminating his contract. They likely had (or attempted to have) conversations with him prior to it reaching this official point.
It's all fine, I didn't like when he was dressed over Hanowski anyway.
I just wish him well from a human being perspective.
Out of curiosity, is there an official timeline that has to be followed between suspending him and putting him on termination waivers? Or is it all team discretion?
The guy could be a little ticked off. Traded to Calgary, plays with the Flames, then sent to Abbotsford, then bumped in and out of the lineup based on a rookie's play. Plus, he's been to three different NHL teams in less then a year and hasn't stuck yet. Could just be him figuring that's enough now. He's 24, he's got his health, he's probably got a little bit of money, time to walk away and get a real job/education.

Disappointing. Will be interesting to hear the Flames' stance on the circumstances (though I don't expect them to divulge personal details).
I was thinking this could be an efficient 4th liner. I remember some Dallas fans being unhappy with the trade because he was a fairly good skater and hit consistently. Not a huge loss, but a bit disappointing.
Edit: My question was kind of vaguely asking if it was a 'team suspending the player while he is managing something in his life' and giving him the time to do so, or if it was a 'we are cutting ties with you'. However, seems like it is the latter anyways. Thanks for the input Freeway.
