Closer than it should have been. Hopefully some puck luck returns in the next game.
I thought Perry, Getzlaf and Toews played really well. Carter also looked good.
Crosby had some looks but continues to be largely a non-factor. With Tavares potentially out, Crosby is going to need to step up.

Latvia played hard but didn't really do much...their goal tender played the game of his life and had horse shoes up his ass...never seen anything like it

Canada beats Latvia 149,000,000 to 6,000,000. Oh sorry that was in salaries.
In goals 2-1. But hey, a win's a win.

I know you would have liked an easier, no doubter kind of game but hockey fans are going to remember this one for a long time. I've been a fan of Latvia for awhile now and am very happy they can take pride in their efforts at these games. Hope they can build on it and come back stronger in four years.

I think everyone's overreacting a little. The team makes very few mistakes, and is very calm and methodical. For all the **** they are taking, they are undefeated, and have not allowed more than 1 goal in a game. Not to mention the team is full of winners, stanley cup winners, olympic winners, etc. You think the Americans are going to run up the score against our defense? Not bloody likely.

Canada should be out shooting and out chancing these teams, and be out scoring them badly. Crosby in particular was guilty of so many stupid passes, what is wrong with him? He has the hardest passes of any player I think I've ever seen, but he zings them into nowheresville on a regular basis. Look at the damn ice Sid, cripes he's really pissing me off.

i'd love to hear what Gudļevskis' NHL GM (yzerman) has to say to him after today's performance.

That's what is so dangerous about these games....you hit a hot goaltender and it can be game over.
Hopefully they find a way to score a few against the US on Friday.

Benn-Getzlaf-Perry was great all game. They've got size, strength, speed and skill. You can't knock these guys off the puck most of the time. These are the types of players the Flames desperately need. Anaheim will be a threat these playoffs for sure.
Other standouts for me up front were Nash and Toews. Also used their size, strength and reach well.
Disappointments? Crosby looks average. Bergeron didn't impress me. MSL was a total nonfactor. Kunitz should never have been on this team IMO. Maybe the skill of Giroux would've helped. We sure miss Stamkos.
Overall in all the games I've seen Canada has spent too much time on the outside. We need to attack the net more. More wraparounds. More driving the slot.

I think the lesson here is to bury your chances early (coughKunitz) so that it never becomes a game in the first place.
Also, dress your best players. At the very least, Duchene has to be in against the USA.

The biggest problem I see is hesitation with the puck, on passes and shots. That's what you see when teams are struggling and not sure what they are supposed to do.

If Canada is going to be spending more time on the outside I think you gotta start letting Doughty and Weber tee off all game. Even if their shots get blocked they tend to hurt the other player. I also think Subban needs to be in and Hamhuis to the box, if neither is going to play meaningful minutes you might as well have the more dangerous offensive player to consider at least.

It's happening. Dal Colle it is for us. All those teams that will end up below us, except Buffalo, are trash trash franchises.
Embarrassments.
