Looks like Finland is outworking & faster than the Russians after 1 period.

No surprise on either front really. The Russian D is so unpredictably bad. They'll stop some plays, and others they just stop working. Seems like a major problem for the Russians, they are high flying when the going is easy, and just stop when the going is tough. Ovechkin may be the worst culprit. For a guy that used to be known for his determination and enthusiasm on the ice, he sure has regressed to the point where he is relying on talent alone. He only skates hard from redline to halfway into the neutral zone, he doesn't back check, doesn't forecheck, and sure as hell can't be bothered to stop someone defensively. It's sad to see such a terrible change.

What are the chances that Putin will visit the Russian locker room during the intermission?

This is kind of a bummer. A Canada Russia final would have been a lot more fun.

I'd be more worried he'll visit the Finnish locker room and then well...

Second straight Olympics where the Russians have switched goalies in the Quarterfinals.

Was there any reason published as to why Bobrovski didn't start this game? Seems strange seeing as he has been the starter up until today.

Why? It would be a massacre. Most of the Russians couldn't point out where the defensive zone is. I assume they think that's just the goalies bench.

Not really sure how Finland winning is an upset, as the commentators have suggested. This will be back to back quarterfinal exits for Russia, and I'm not sure they've looked interested in playing this entire tournament outside the US game. Russian hockey is a total mess right now, lots of elite talent but nothing close to resembling a team. The fact they win the World Championships is irrelevant because, well, it's irrelevant as a tournament.
