That's what made him fun. You need someone in there who isn't a total pushover, knows his stuff, and get can into heated discussions now and again to keep things interesting.

I find Leslie's humor a little awkward - seems like he is trying too hard to be funny. But he is an excellent interviewer. Bryn made the show intolerable, Leslie brought it back somewhat. He did ok for his time there. I can't say I will miss him like I miss the Kerr/Steinberg combo though. Good luck to him nonetheless.

Yeah, and back onto PBP on the television broadcasts. Seems like they could solve a couple problems at once by hiring a new colour guy for Peter Maher.
New colour guy -> Loubo back to PBP -> Kerr back to the afternoon show.
Then if they're going to do a Hockey Central with 960 staff, at least Kerr could be on there to drive the show more solidly.

Maybe the talent isn't top shelf but most that have come and gone since the beginning have been at least been listenable. I think all these guys do their best but Rogers does as little as possible to put these guys in positions to succeed by cheaping out everywhere possible. When you look at what these guys get paid I kind of admire that they enjoy what they do enough to stick with it.

Yes they do actually.
Schtick? Spare me. You work there or something?
From your comment, it appears there are others on here that also don't like the station. I didn't know that.
Sounds like a random sample of independent opinions (at least mine is) rather than some sinister gang of haters that work together to spread our word.

They are overworked and underpaid. Never going to retain any top level talent in situations like that.

Yep. Talent level might not be amazing, but when you don't give guys a chance to prepare, you will not get much.
On a typical Flames game day, Steinberg does 4 hours in the afternoon, flames pregame show, intermissions, and hosts OT. Guy can easily be in the air for 8 hours in a single day.
This is why we don't get quality programming. Already 4 hours on air is too long, they should be on for a max of 3 + appropriate prep time.

That would be ideal, but when you don't have the resources to acquire top talent, you're stuck with riding the few good pieces you have as far as you can.

Sorry, you were probably not the right person for me to post at.
I have just noticed there is a group on here who seem to hate everything the Fan 960 does, bash all their personalities, bash their coverage, etc.
Some people seem to think its just like talking to your buddy about sports at the pub.

Jay Mohr Sports needs affiliates. Jay is great. Rome has had his day.

I miss Rob Kerr doing the afternoon shows. He knew his hockey and was better in that role than he is now as a PBP guy for the Flames.

Hate to see a guy lose his gig, but wasn't a fan of the afternoons. Hope they move Pinder to that spot, he's a talent.

Because we're just one of the larger markets in Canada.
Toronto attracts some half decent talent, but for the most part 960 is either a place along the way to bigger and better things, or it's a home to some pretty average folks as far as show hosting goes.
I'm pretty happy with 960, they do fine with what they have. They'll never be even remotely comparable to some of the content from joints like CBS Sports Radio and Rome and whatever else they manage to nab syndication for. I mean, Sportsnet has TWO radio stations, and even their big one (590) which they pump what resources they have for AM radio isn't all that great. Better though, for sure.
