Sid Sexeiro on Sportsnet went on a rant about this sport, about the corruption in the judging. Quite epic actually, hahaha. Said this is the worst sport in the history of the Olympics.
i thought they should have included at least 12% more prancing to thier program......i dunno, i guess it is easy in a judged sport to claim the fix was in. I was a little surprised to learn this morning (courtesy of the Fan) that the same coaches worked with the gold and silver meadalists........

I watched the rant and agree on one thing. They need to change Ice Dance so that it has a definitive way that you can set one performance from another. If that is not possible remove it from the games.
All I know is the American commentators stated that Virtue and Moir skated flawlessly and Davis and White had a small flaw (must have been referring to the finnstep), yet the Americans topped the Canadians who had just set the record for points in a long program. Not sure how you do better than a record setting performance with a flaw in the program.
Count me out of watching any judged sport ever again. I'm done, it's stupid. It's obviously pre-arranged and you may as well be watching professional wrestling for the "competition". What a waste.
There is no Finnstep in the FD.

They do, it's called Code of Points and is the best way to set each skate apart from each other. Again, just because the average viewer don't see anything doesn't mean it isn't there.
Dance is more than just twizzles and staying on your feet.

Name more than one proven corruption charge.

What people always seem to forget to mention is that Marina Zueva coaches something like 2 or 3 other teams in addition to Virtue/Moir and Davis/White. It's also pretty common. The best coaches attract the best teams. Look at Brian Orser who coaches several singles skaters.

Here's his rant. Definitely worth the listen.

If you saw the team event earlier in the Olympics, there were a couple of times when Moir would almost "shoo" the coach away when the scores came up so she could change out of her Canada jacket and put her USA one on to go coach them.

I saw that too, I thought he was kind of being a dick, but I didn't realize the situation there, which is completely ridiculous.
The team event was the first time I had ever actually seen Ice Dance ... what a ridiculous thing to be in the Olympics.
Sounds to me like they should have dumped the coach. This is just an opinion but i think the coach wanted a gold for each of her proteges so she could pad her resume.

Do they pick their own coach or are they forced/suggested to use a certain coach?
I've been watching a little bit of their 'reality' show. I haven't been at all impressed with their coach. There have been hints even there, that they wonder if she's giving them her all, considering who else she's coaching. It was very subtle but even before they said anything, I'd wondered the same thing. I knew before their show hit the airwaves, that they shared the same coach and if it were me, I would have made every effort to find a new one. It just doesn't seem optimal, in any way.
