So this is the newest MLM load of bullpucky going around, is it? Link We're sitting in Starbucks, waiting for my husband while he's working on some funeral stuff for a friend, and this guy is doing his level best to sell a couple on this. Holy hell, I don't understand why they're sitting there still listening to it. It's so clearly BS.

There's another couple sitting at the long table with us and we keep laughing and talking about it. It's crazy.

Nothing to add except I've seen someone trying to sell it about a year ago, so not super "new".

Other than that...

A couple friend of ours are big into Vemma and never miss the opportunity to pitch the products. I actually think they are great drinks just the method of delivery is nonsense.

A year and a half ago a good friend of mine tried to push the stuff on me, but I thought it just sounded like a silly pyramid scheme. When I visited him 8 months later he had a basement full of it. I asked him how the sales were doing, to which I just got an embarrassed "shut up".

Well yeah, they have a product to move. They're obviously going to make it taste good - it's a little hard to move product that tastes like sweat off a baboon's ass. But in the end, it's just juice/flavored water/whatever.

A couple of years ago we were coming back from Radium and stopped at the Divide parking lot to use the facilities. My husband noticed 4 people milling around an RV and that they seemed to be having mechanical problems. So he went to see if he could help in any way, but after looking into it, realized they needed to have it towed to a repair shop. As it turns out, they were selling MonaVie. They tried desperately to push it on us but we just said yeah, no thanks and left.

They tossed a bottle of the stuff to my daughter and her friend as we were walking away. Sure, it's good stuff. But it wasn't the be all and end all they were trying to sell us on. Just like this guy yesterday. He was name dropping like crazy, with this athlete and that athlete and this world famous surgeon who wouldn't sell this stuff if it wasn't legit and ruin his reputation, blah blah blah blah blah. It went on and on and on. But he 'doesn't do the hard sell.' |

Bleh - brings back memories of Arbonne and the woman in my office that resigned from a decent job to sell that stuff full time.
Still find it funny/sad when I see "Arbonne Consultant" on a resume....

Working in finance, I get all the Primerica, World Financial Group losers trying to recruit me at my office. I get probably 10 offers a year from these donkeys. It is very easy to get rid of them. As dooshey as it sounds, I just pull a pay stub out of my desk, and ask to see theirs, and compare. It's such an awesome opportunity, right? You've been with them 3 years, right? Then I better make more than this number on my paystub, right? Guarantee me that, and I will join.

Usually it's, "Ummmm, I don't have one with me, but I'll come back and show you, for sure!" They then wander off to their 1996 Taurus with their tabacco stained teeth, or better yet the bus stop across the street, never to be seen or heard from again.

If you want MLM people to leave you alone, usually playing the pay stub game is all it takes.

I also know of a Primerica story that ended with a bankrupted family, a divorce, and brains smeared on a wall from the self inflicted business end of a shotgun. They are locusts, and never involve yourself with them.

There were several of us at the long table and the other small tables and everyone was rolling their eyes and snickering and eventually, we weren't at all quiet about our mocking. I don't think it impressed him much but no one really gave a crap.
We absolutely burst out laughing when he said that he makes $50k/month with Vemma but he keeps his regular job because he just loves it so much. Yeah, right. Just like Springs1 weighs 98 lbs.
I told him he was a slimeball as we left.

ETA: regarding Primerica - my husband's cousin was getting involved in Primerica and my husband asked me to tell him what a joke it was. When I worked with a financial management company, they talked about Primerica all the time, and what a load of crap it was. I emailed one of my old co-workers and got her to detail all the stuff again, and then told the cousin about it. At first he was very resistant and we argued back and forth a bit, but eventually, he did a bit of digging himself, into what we were telling him and realized it wasn't anything he should get involved in, and walked away.

The worst part about these stupid companies is when one of your friends falls for it, and then incessantly bugs you to "go for coffee to talk about it". I lost a friend over that. Dude kept calling me to meet up to talk about this "amazing opportunity" where I could make some insane figure like $50,000/mo, so eventually, I had to stop answering his calls. Lucky for me, he was an outsider (not part of my main group of friends), so it was easy to cut ties.
I pity people that fall for this crap. I was laughing the other day because I saw a sign zip tied to a light post. It was an old realtors sign that was cut into smaller squares, and on the back (the clean side), they used a felt marker to scrawl "make $5,000/mo" with a ph#. Yeah, ok. You're making mad cash, but you have to steal realtor signs, cut them up, and use the back of them to advertise your booming business? Lol. You couldn't afford $100 at a print shop to make your own little signs to zip tie to light poles? Did ya steal the felt pen, too?

Seriously, who falls for this shiz?

This sounds like a job for the Salty DroidGo get 'em Salty

He did a post on them November of last year. Good reading.

They were class-action sued in California over their auto- shipping policy.
