i never like formats with wildcard teams.

for example tomorrow Canada and Finland play last and with their superior goal differences over Russia and US they could agree to not score in 60 minutes and guarantee that both teams finish in the top 4 and Russia finish 5. Then play out overtime and SO for the better seeding.

If it were me, I've have had 16 teams in the tournament, top team in each of the 4 groups goes to the quarters, 2nd and 3rd playoff and 4th gets eliminated. In my scenario, the Austria-Norway game tomorrow is an elimination game where it really is for nothing. You can't have a round-robin and eliminate nobody!

it's the new wave unfortunately. every team advancing to the playoff round is more or less the same as giving a participation ribbon

Russian for Greaser is Нефтяник, but this uniform is from the second junior league МХЛ-Б. The team is called Горняк or in translation miner(s). Anyways they pretty much stole the Oiler's Uniforms, both home and away... only god knows why.

Just got around to watching the highlights of the usa/russia game.

Man, I do not want to meet those two teams in the shootout. Oshie was awesome - love his fivehole shot. Kovalchuk had a couple great snipes as well.

Joke of a way to end a game, but still fun to watch.

Thanks, I saw that jersey too, thanks to the Burke-cam, but would've never figured out where to even begin looking....certainly wouldn't have looked to the ECHL (or lower) Russian equivalent league.

So a mix of the Oilers logo and the Canucks colors....yeah.
