Klimchuk still needs to play another year of junior before going to the AHL.

I wonder if Coda Gordon gets offered a contract, or if he gets the Joey Leach treatment.
I also wonder if Agostino signs with us after his college season is over, or if he pulls a Corban Knight.

Off loading Nemisz, Horak, Cundari, and Brossoit, I thought Brossoit would be the one we'd regret moving. But so far, Roy is showing he is a more capable goaltender. On the other hand. Look at our additions vs subtractions
since being subtracted from HEAT:
Nemisz 11GP 3-7-10
Horak 33GP 13-11-24
Cundari 8GP 3-2-5
since being added to HEAT:
Locke 7GP 0-6-6
MacDermid 25GP 1-1-2
Gillies 4GP 0-0-0
Baertschi 20GP 3-6-9
O'Brien 5GP 0-1-1
I know the team is doing great, but were any of these moves really necessary? Cundari out-pacing O'Brien, Nemisz outpacing MacDermid, Horak playing at a Locke-like level. Gillies is just a big ? to me. Why waste of valuable roster space...

The main difference is SOB/Gillies/MacDermid are bigger players. Nemisz is big but doesn't really play that way. Horak was part of a trade to add an NHL player... that move had nothing to do with the Heat.

I'm still a bit bummed about Cundari. He looked great in his call up last year.

The move involving a Heat player that had Roy as part of the return had nothing to do with Heat? I'm going to have to disagree. Maybe Smid was the focus, but the trade had a lot to do with the Heat.
Are you defending the Nemisz for MacDermid move based on size? Or just telling me that he's bigger? We know he's bigger.

Thinking about the Heat roster later this year as the junior/college season ends. NHL teams will typically send a few players down there once their seasons are up to get some game action or at least be black aces for the playoffs. Very likely at least a few of these guys will join the Heat:
Porier - Gatineau is a mid-pack team in the Q (season ends Mar 15), they'll likely go a round or two in the playoffs so he'll likely be available by season end.
Klimchuk - Regina is likely out in the first round of the playoffs.
Also have guys like Kanzig, Culkin, Kulak who will probably go down there but I doubt would play.
Then you have the college guys - Agostino, Arnold, Gaudreau (assuming he signs)
I wonder how many of these guys would suit up? Going to be a pack roster come mid/late April and playoffs.

Well yes... the trade obviously effected the Heat roster, but it was made to get Smid on the Flames. It hurt the Heat, but that wasn't part of the thought process of Feaster.
Even the Neimsz trade was about helping the Flames by getting Westgarth.
That's the tough part of support a minor league team. The big club is going to make moves that screw over the minor league team.

I doubt many of them actually see any game ice. Agostino and Arnold might, but mostly in the past the players coming in late just learn the systems, hang out and practice, but don't play. Some good guys in that list, so we might see a couple more late comers lace up than normal.

Looking closer at Klimchuk... they are in a garbage division so they could easily end up with a #2 seed and win a round despite being the 6th best team in the conference.

It's like their "pump up the crowd" kind of thing. I guess they could be considered cheerleaders. The one guy in that cheerleading team must get a lot of tail. I have yet to you ask him if he does or not.

Yes, any drafted player can play on a PTO (professional try-out) in the AHL after his junior season has ended (Poirier, Klimchuk, and Kanzig are signed, so they don't need a PTO).
The College players can do it if they are done with their NCAA careers because they lose their NCAA eligibility if they play a pro game (or even practice, I believe).

I'm not positive about this but I seem to remember Junior players that have signed a NHL contract being able to sign an ATO contract with the AHL team, so their NHL contract doesn't kick in until the next season. It may be the same with college players too.

The Heat game scheduled for tomorrow in Charlotte has now been postponed until Saturday.
The Heat flight to Raleigh was just cancelled, as is almost every flight into Raleigh. Travel is not pleasant right now.

Both games will be played in Raleigh this weekend. I'm going to the game Saturday and will be directly behind the Charlotte net in the 1st and 3rd periods.
This happened last year when the Heat came to North Carolina as well. Everyone blames the Canadians for the bad weather (not really).
