Well, this thread just pisses me off. Usual Suspects? Big Lebowski??? Pulp Fiction??? Fight Club?? Serenity??????????????? What the eff is wrong with you people? And then there's tracker, trying too hard to be the movie snob that hates everything, except wait, he actually doesn't hate everything, he just thinks they're overrated, or whatever.
If someone mentions The Princess Bride I'm probably going to lose my sh*t.

Snob? Hardly, all I did was go down IMDB's top 250 and listed movies that are too high, and receive more than their share of praise. Some of them are good movies, just not quite as great as where they're listed. I think that's a very fair way of assessing the subject; judging your opinions on the basis of others ratings, but hey what do I know.

The subject is "Movies you hate that others seem to love". So no, it's not a fair way of assessing the subject. It's just a matter of attention-grabbing, so that someone can respond with "OMG, you hated that movie?" and then you can respond with "Well, no, but I thought it insisted on itself" or some other nonsense.

Not trying to grab attention at all by being a contrarian. There are two ways you can see this thread; either movies you literally hate, or movies that you dislike more than others. I chose to go the second path, as yes there are more interesting titles when you go that route.
Unless you'd prefer to beat the same old drum of crapping on either legitimately bad movies or movies everyone loves to hate like Titanic, Gladiator, and Avatar. Where is the fun and interesting discussion in that?

You missed it a page back, someone hated The Princess Bride, and then the next post was someone saying Cary Elwes is a terrible actor. That I just don't get. Because unlike some other Robin Hoods, he can speak with an English Accent!

All Super Hero movies that aren't of the Dark Knight variety. Can't stand them.

A few more:
Princess Bride (thanks for the reminder!)
V for Vendetta
True Romance
True Romance is one that I enjoyed when I was in my teens, but watching it since then, coupled with the fact that it's a complete and utter ripoff of Badlands really makes me hate that movie.

True Romance?
The Breakfast Club?
Donnie Darko?
Scarface?
Just a few that stand out to me as quite surprising.
We all have our own tastes, but wow, surprised by some choices in here.
Me?
White Chicks
Meet the Parents
The Happening
Those three movies should be shot into the sun along with the writers and directors.

I strongly dislike almost everything Jackie Chan or Jet Li have done in Hollywood after leaving Hong Kong. Special effects and camera tricks have really ruined what they do best. Their natural abilities have been obfuscated by special effects.

I don't think there was much in the way of special effects in stuff like Rush Hour or Shanghai Noon. Jet Li I would agree is all about the wires. But Chan seems to have tried to steer clear of it, at least in the ones that I've seen. Stuff like The Tuxedo and what not would probably include more, but he IS supposed to have superpowers in that one, yes?

My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I was told by multiple people this was the funniest movie ever, and that I would love it. I hated it with the white hot fury of a thousand dying suns.

I don't think that Jackie Chan isn't doing his own stunts, but they're very low key compared to his early days, and I think the way the camera is used in the movies, it doesn't look real. Jackie Chan is really known for his athleticism and stunts, and those are really down played in his Hollywood movies. Nothing really comes close to his roles in Drunken Master, Supercop, or Mr. Nice Guy. I know he's older now and those kinds of stunts take their toll, but if that's the case he should retire from martial arts movies, and focus on honing his acting skills rather than participating in substandard Kung Fu flicks.

I would agree with the latter, but it's only in the last few years. Dude is almost 60. 45 when Shanghai Noon was released (some great stunts in there as well). I would say his first few movies after coming to hollywood were just stunt packed. Sliding down that huge flag thing in Rush Hour was craziness.

My stepdaughter and all her friends thought it was hilarious. Not to mention it made $71M and they are making White Chicks 2.
