Lack of mobility, bad penalties, poor puck moving skills. Pretty easy to see why both Sutter and Hartley didn't use Sarich. I don't think O'Brien has been significantly worse than Sarich for us although I haven't seen a ton of Sarich with the Avs.
I don't understand why Feaster re-signed him and thought he could be anywhere near to a Regehr replacement. Some of Feaster's worst moves involved him overrating a player he had with another organization (Sarich, O'Brien, Modin, etc.) Sarich's contract was part of the reason Sutter had us in cap hell and then Feaster goes an re-ups him. Should've kept Regehr, dumped Sarich years ago.

To me he was a top six defenceman at least and he's proving it in Colorado.

He really wasn't consistently physical. He had a couple highlight reel hits that everyone kept quoting.
Smart passes? We must have been watching different players. Sarich struggled to clear the zone at almost every opportunity. He was more likely to shoot it off the boards than make a smart pass. Brodie, Russell, Gio, those types of guys make smart outlets. Sarich really, really struggled at moving the puck up the ice either by passing or by skating.
His speed had him getting beat at the opposition blueline which would lead to breakaways or penalties. He'd also get beat along the boards by faster players and often had to bring them down.
Sarich much like Regehr was a slower, less skilled player that excelled in the pre-lockout era by clutching and grabbing. Both those two had less impact when the obstruction rules became more heavily enforced. Unfortunately Sarich was the poor man's Regehr and thus became a depth NHLer.

We have every right to dissect everything they do - multi-million dollar athletes will always be subject to that. We don't have a right to say anything? Gimme a break.

Wow, this is the most disgustingly entitled garbage I have ever read, and I frequent many gaming and radical feminists forums. These are people just like you and I, who have waaaaay cooler jobs. They have "every right" to their relaxation time and their privacy. You are nothing more than a fan of the product they produce, and have no rights to anything about these fine people. Seriously, you need to check your world view a bit, thinks I.

I agree with all of that except the last line. I say should've kept Hannan, dumped Sarich AND Regehr.

More than anyone semi-celebrities, such as hockey players, leave themselves open for judgement and interpretation when their personal photos and personal lives go online. It's happened before, it happens now and will continue to happen. Just ask Phaneuf or Avery.
Not saying its right, but no one gives a ***** about my personal photos because I'm not a celebrity.
Well, I am in my own mind. I'm a legend in the squared circle.

He got into his jeans for a buck twenty, that is a weird way to say that you lost a bet.

He hasn't been out of the game that long. Streaky scorer who suffered one of the scarier injuries I've seen in recent years when he got crunched by a hit and broke vertebrae in his neck. That was freaky.

The best that Sarich looked last season was the chemistry he had with Gio and Brodie. Especially for the latter, I think it helped to have that veteran presence.
Other than that, he didn't have much competition with Smith being as poor A he's been over the last season.

Lol. I'm sure you've seen worse than someone like myself who is poking fun at celebrities. If these guys, who we all practically worship as demi-gods because we're hockey fans and they play on our favourite team, choose to publicly post what they're doing over their twitter accounts and post pictures, then they put themselves up for opinion.
We constantly pick these guys apart 12 months a year. We analyze their performance, we gauge their reactions on the microphone between periods, and we debate everything in between, including what media journalists and TV personalities spout about their style, skill and character, and every single rumor that grows from horribly inaccurate Internet posters right to the very words from the mouths of GMs. Are you even reading the Johnny Gaudreau thread? We're picking apart the fact that he eats skittles for crying out loud. We are fans of a team and we almost subconsciously follow their every move because we want to see our boys do well and win a Cup (hopefully multiple times), a Cup - and a pastime - that holds a special place in the hearts of so many Canadians. Hockey players are under the microscope 24/7 by fans - its been that way for a long time, and it will continue to be so, especially in the age of social media and a growing social culture of free flowing information and personal spotlights on what people do on a daily basis. Don't believe me? Go on your Facebook account and observe just how much your friends/acquaintances are willing to serve up for free to you, including (but not limited to) what they had for breakfast that morning, what size of shoes they wear, how bored they are twirling their hair at work, and how awesome they feel after doing 10 jumping jacks at the gym. Don't forget the video montages and Instagram collages of their entire online life story.
Or is poking fun at sport celebrities' vacations just too offside? Do you even know what Twitter is?
