The Swedish skip is named Niklas Edin. I think he's a secret third Sedin brother whose real name is Nikla Sedin.

Probably before 1992.

1-2 start for Jacobs rink. His team is really struggling. It's never good when a player's percentage is in the 70s.

Sweden holds on just barely. Canada needs to be really sharp from here on out.

500m long-track speed skating begins now.

Alex Gough and Kimberley McRae move up into 4th and 5th, respectively, after the 3rd women's luge run. Unfortunately, Gough actually lost time on 3rd place American Erin Hamlin. Now sitting 0.355 seconds outside the podium, which is pretty huge with a single run remaining (after the first run, places 2 through 9 were separated by less than that amount of time). Barring any huge mistakes from the top 3, looks like a 4th and 5th finish for the Canadians. Would still be a very good showing, but disappointing for these girls to have come so close.

Yeah, unfortunately Gough's odds of getting 3rd have gone down a lot. Really needs a perfect run if she's going to compete for bronze.

The CBC stream has been pretty much crap since the Games started. I've completely given up on trying to watch online.

What problems have you had online? I've had no issues online, although I've only been watching the "webcasts" and not their Olympic morning/primetime/etc.

me neither, I'm watching olympic daytime online right now and my work computer is crap, still using IE.

curling: shaky start but luckily it's not page system so really finishing 1st or 4th isn't a huge difference other than last rock.

what's the next big event? luge? Canada going for a medal?

Canada sits 4th and 5th after 3 luge runs (Gough and McRae). Very slim chance they move up, as the gap is pretty big.

Pairs figure skating starts with the short program. 3 Canadian tandems involved.

Alex Gough has an outside shot at the bronze medal in Luge, but I think 3 tenths down to a world top 6 sledder is not going to be enough.

The only things really left today where Canadian has competitors are the Pairs' Short Program in Figure Skating, and the Ladies' Ski Jumping.

GB just scored seven in the fourth end versus the US. Surely that's some kind of Olympic record.
