Nirvana is an interesting one, I have never really been able to nail down a favourite.. I would say Smells like Teen Spirit just beacuse of these lyrics:

Quote:
And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to find
Oh well, whatever, never mind
Some of my favourite lyrics in any song and I think it sums up Kurt Cobain perfectly.

Bah I don't know how to embed something starting at a certain time so here:

Interesting how so many are picking Gimme Shelter for their stones song.

I would not have anticipated that.

I had a tough time picking the Stones one. Just so many damn songs.

Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil and Jumping Jack Flash were all kind of tied for me.

A couple off the board ones for If I Was a Dancer, Miss You, and Saint of Me.

Also interesting that it appears no one picked Eleanor Rigby.

I would have thought that would be a popular one. It was on my shortlist.

Wow some of these are hard choices.... I probably spent more time on this than I needed too, some are impossibly hard choices.

Rather than mark a ? or N/A I just removed the ones where I didn't listen to enough of that band to choose.

ABBA - Take a chance on me
The Band - The Weight
Beach Boys - Barbara Ann
Beatles - Hey Jude
David Bowie - Chris Hadfield reminded me how fantastic Space Oddity is, but I still have to go with Heroes
The Clash - White Riot
Bob Dylan - The Times they are A-Changin'
Fleetwood Mac - Don't Stop
Elton John - Daniel
Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child
Led Zeppelin - The Ocean
Metallica - Fade to Black Honourable mention goes to 'Bleeding Me'
Pink Floyd - All of Dark Side of the Moon... but if I have to choose I'll go another direction and say Wish you Were Here
Queen - Stone Cold Crazy
Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar
Rush - All of them? How do you choose when a band has over 20 albums. I want to say 'Resist' or '2112' Hardest choice on the list but I'll go with Nobody's Hero
Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days
Tragically Hip - Little Bones
Van Halen - Unchained
The Who - The Seeker

Am I crazy for thinking that Dark Side of the Moon is a totally overrated Pink Floyd album?

I don't think its overrated, just overplayed. Its an album to be played from start to finish. not chopped up into singles. Its historical significance is huge. When it came out, everyone I knew had a copy within days.

That's probably it. I'm just so sick of hearing Money, Us and Them and Time. That and their next album just totally overshadows it for me.

Don't like when I hear a song from Dark Side of the Moon on the radio. It's an album that's best appreciated when you throw it on the stereo, turn off the lights, and just listen to the whole thing

I agree, it really shouldn't be broken up into smaller songs which is why I was very tempted to put DSOTM as my favorite Floyd song. But that's cheating, so I chose Time which I consider to be the zenith of that album.

"Dogs" from Animals was going to be my second pick. David Gilmour does not recieve enough credit.

Also, how could you forget the Doors? You included ABBA but not the Doors? You disappoint me, troutman.
