Having looked at the forwards on that list the one thing that sticks out to me is the importance of the freshman and sophomore years. Gaudreau's numbers are right there with those guys. Sure this year he's 2 PPG, but when you try to compare that with the top scorers you're inevitably comparing him with juniors or more often seniors. The reason there's no impact players on the top scorers list is because the impact players left college before they had the opportunity to play as a junior or senior

Cammalleri played 3 years of College. He had 43 points in 28 games in his third year.
Cammalleri and Gaudreau's sophomore PPG were virtually the same, Johnny's were higher in their freshman years, as well as their junior years.

Anyone have the highlights from the game yet? I'd love to see Arnold's Hatty. The kid is such a well rounded player.
And of course I want to see the beauty setups from Johnny Hockey.

Can anyone find an NHLer who had a better junior college season than Johnny is having?

True, but from what I can find that looks to be a whole different era in college hockey

Like was said earlier, no one has broken the 2.00 PPG mark in college hockey since the 90s. Thus, I don't believe we should be treating Gaudreau like the other smaller college kids that managed to become fringe NHLers in the past decade. He's on another level.
I'll be be jumping, yelling and high fiving strangers when this guy gets signed.

There isn't enough thanks to give for that photo. Will put to sleeps a ton of unfounded fears of him not signing. That contract will be signed before Johnny has a chance to get his skates off when he plays his last game this season. Furthermore, there's going to be a Flames rep standing and waiting at every single game they play during the frozen four with that contract in hand. Kid cannot sign fast enough man, The great white hype has taken over.

So when can he be signed? Does he have to wait until the end of his college year? I don't know much about NCAA rules.

technically they could sign him any day, but as soon as he signs, he can't play in the NCAA anymore. So it won't happen until his season is wrapped up. Expect him to get signed immediately when his season ends ... they signed Hanowski within a few hours last year I believe.

Not this again! Lol
The minute he signs any contract to play hockey he is ineligible to continue to play in the NCAA, so if he wants to finish his season there, he cannot sign until it's over

Dude, I was just asking a question and no, I am not one of those "what if he doesn't sign and we lose him for nothing" guys. Looking forward to seeing him in Flames silks sooner rather than later!

Sorry, want trying to come across as a jerk, just was joking that the question has been asked quite a few times in this thread (not that is expect someone to read a whole long thread before posting a question). Honestly was just kidding and answering your question

BC has a really good shot at winning it all this year, they are dominating. So if he does end up going all the way to the NCAA final (April 11th) he could still sign with the Flames April 12th and play in Van that night to finish off the season.
Then he has of course all the time in Abby and their Calder Cup run coming up.

The thought of adding Gaudreau and Arnold to an already strong Heat team makes me giddy with excitement.

And I can't recall... Monahan could join the Heat once his junior team is done too, right? Ottawa is currently 9th in the eastern conference - if they miss the playoffs, they are done on March 16th.
