I almost wish it was for more. If they're going to have a struggle to hit the floor next year, I'd rather they overpay for a guy like Russell than go out and overpay some random UFA.

sort of feel like we stole him, I guess his agent did not feel that his one good year would net him that much more on the market, or he is really comfortable here. Either way I'm happy to have him for 2 more years

Russell went from a spare part to an integral part of our team, breakout, power play, offense, etc. Awesome to see him back. Was a little scared Burke might underrate him due to size but he hasn't.

Amazed that he signed for less than 3, I think he could have got more as a UFA but this team seems to be a good fit for him. Very happy with this deal.

Couple things. Was a pending UFA and there's a couple RFAs worth resigning.
Colborne, Bouma, Ortio, Hanowski to name a few.

Im one of the people who was pretty meh on the trade, never really saw enough from Russell to see him being more than a 6/7th defenseman. Very glad I was wrong, hes been one of my favorite Flames this year
Great contract, excited to see him progress even further with the Flames
