It's no loss, but it seems odd to import a 4th liner when there are usually several available every year who have NHL experience.

I say we nickname him The Denist.

Flaake might also be on Burke's radar, Flaake is RW 6'3'' 203lbs and also a 2010 5th round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs

Well it'd be a good move if we end up drafting Draisaitl (sp?) to have someone else to help him feel welcome on the team (assuming Wolf makes it to the NHL).

Thanks for the clarification on the rules surrounding signing/comment. If that's the case and he can't have signed anyway, how can anyone report that it's going to happen, are we all discussing the rumour of a verbal agreement? that seems like pretty shaky ground...

I dunno, maybe they see him as a guy who can be a goon but a goon with enough actual hockey talent to not bleed possession and scoring chances.

I believe Berra and Sven are both German-Swiss, so that would already help Draisaitl if he was in the room.

and for another awesome line.

Baer - Leon - Wolf

that would be one dangerous line

I'd like that. In the games I've seen, I liked him more than Wolf. He uses his size differently though, he's not a really gritty player. More of a skilled guy that uses his size to shield the puck.

Will try to catch some Freezers games in the next weeks.

Look at Michael Raffl for example. Born in 1988, undrafted, was playing in the tier 2 Swedish league last year, signed by the Flyers and now hes playing regular minutes in the NHL. 7 goals, 11 assists in 45 games.

What the hell, why not take a flyer? What was really lost with Cervenka last year? Size and nastiness on the wings is something the organization currently is a bit lacking in, so why not?

It seems like these sorts of rumours, random NHL team has come to terms with random Euro-league player, almost always come true in the end. It's not the kind of click-bait rumour that guys like Eklund use to generate traffic, so it's most likely from Wolf's agent or someone like that mentioning it to a reporter in Germany.

Minor update:

German Newspaper Bild is saying Wolf will first report to Abbotsford and then work his way up to the NHL.
http://www.bild.de/sport/mehr-sport/...3860.bild.html

If true, means the Flames didn't promise him anything in terms of guaranteed NHL ice time.

small correction: the report is wrong. They are saying that the 2-way-contract means he'll automatically go to Abbotsford, which of course is not true.

Bild is a horrible, horrible tabloid.
