Yeah, I'm familiar with the NHLE numbers. I just thought comparing him to Knight would be nice and direct. But this works too - thanks!
By the way, the NHLE also demonstrates that the NCAA is a lot closer to the AHL than the CHL is.
It certainly does, -however- the AHL translation number has its caveats because so many role players are brought in from the AHL to fill the bottom half of NHL rosters. There is an article on it somewhere, but it basically says that AHL is actually close to KHL than NCAA. I'll go find it...
I'm really liking how this team is developing it's young talent. Phaneuf is an all-star, Boyd, Moss and Giordano are sticking with the big club, guys like Tarathukin and Germyn playing well in Omaha, and young goalies out the yin-yang with Krahn McElhinney, Keetley, Lalonde, Irving, etc.
Not to pick on the original poster, because I was pretty damn close to purchasing a Tarathukin Knights jersey waaaay back in the day.

Yeah, I was looking for that article. This is a good reason why stats alone without the background information, doesn't have much meaning. Often the AHL call ups are low talent goons which skews the equivalency.

Adding the KHL equivalency really helps. More numbers is better in stats land, I think.
Joni Ortio and Chris Breen have been assigned to Abbotsford for the Olympic Break.
No surprises there. Wonder if Joni might potentially make it back for the Heat game tonight.
Ward said he could, but he wouldn't play him even if he did. No point in rushing Joni like that. Could risk an injury without the proper game day preparation.

Loaded up on D, holy. No wonder they were willing to part with Cundari.
Yea. No doubt. Having good depth has been perfect for Wotherspoon and Ramage. Neither have suffered from over-exposure at all this season.
There is going to be a serious battle for spots next year with Kulak and Culkin coming up as well Roy maybe.
I suspect we will have to part with Smith/OB/Lamb this off-season at the very least. That's a shame, I'm not sure any one can fill the offence/mobility currently coming from Smith/OB.
Breen will be a UFA this summer as well so I doubt he will return. Cundari likely will not be qualified, in my experience its rare to lend a player then still re-sign them.
I think Burke will sign a college defenseman in the off season. Maybe JVR's younger brother?
Plus Sieloff will be back. And as you mentioned potentially adding Culkin and Kulak
Baertschi seems to be coming around, on a 5 game point streak from the checking line. He is turning Jooris into a scorer.
The Heat are playing crazy well this season. Hopefully Baertschi works his way up to an offensive line going into the playoffs.
I take back any negative comments I made about Ward. I love his approach with Baertschi. Don't worry about the big picture. Let's focus you on one or two manageable things and judge your success based on that. Seems to be working.
Next season could be interesting. We could see a stacked set of forwards like
Maybe they move a C to wing a keep a guy like Locke or Street. But no matter how you slice it that is a lot of legitimate prospects playing in a winning environment with a strong development coach. Throw is some injury call ups to expose them to the NHL experience and your on the way. Love it.

I think there's a good chance we'll see a couple of those forwards make the Flames next year. Perhaps Reinhart and Granlund?
