In this mornings Herald (pg. A3), there is a article stating that a British man has made a video suggesting that a small plane or missile, hit the Pentagon and not Flight 77.
Video
I watched the video, and there are eyewitnesses that never saw the plane, and claimed it was a small plane or missle that hit the Pentagon.
Conspiracy theory? Cover up?
I am pretty sure it was not a cover up, but then again stranger things have happened.

There is an article in the Washington Post this morning - reprinted in the Calgary Herald today - talking about this specific film and other conspiracy theories and the attractiveness of them. The story examines the rapidity with which conspiracy films like the one about the Pentagon 9/11 attack can rapidly gain strength in this day and age:
American history is rife with conspiracy theories. Extremists have fed rumors of secret plots by Masons, bankers, Catholics and Communists. But now urban legends have become cyberlegends, and suspicions speed their way globally not over months and weeks but within days and hours on the Web.
"The dissemination is almost immediate," said Doug Thomas, a University of Southern California communications professor who teaches classes on technology and subgroups. "It's not just one Web site saying, 'Hey, look at this.' It's 10,000 people sending e-mails to 10 friends, and then they send it on."
"It seems that since the end of the Cold War, the enemy is the United States government, the enemy is within," said Rick Ross, whose Ross Institute of New Jersey monitors cults and other controversial groups, many of which see manipulative forces working behind the scenes. "Instead of projecting conspiracy theories out, it's become internalized."
You may have to register to read this but it would be worth your time:

Yes, for a couple of reasons. It has been posted on more than one occasion and the second fata is the link.

Yeah this is at least 2 months old.
I'm not willing to put on my tinfoil hat just yet but I do think it's mysterious that the FBI confiscated the surveillance tapes.

For every person they could find that says "they saw a missile", I could probably find 4x more that said they saw a plane.

Actually, that is the easiest part to explain: The tapes show an attack against a military installation. Of course they would be confiscated. Those tapes existed only with the permission of the US government anyway.

The video seems very CNN/FOX-ish in its sensationalist production. If they really wanted to spread information, they would avoid the tacky soundtrack and show the images longer.
Having said that, I do think there are some fishy things about the Pentagon attack and the plane that crashed in Pensylvania. The only thing that I can't figure out is WHY would there be some kind of cover-up?
So what if it was a missile or commuter plane that hit the Pentagon - an attack is still an attack. What would they have to gain by saying it was a Boeing 757?
If it was a self-inflicted bombing or attack, and not a terrorist attack, I still wouldn't see the point. We know for sure that 2 planes hit the WTC, so the administration already had everyone's attention. What good would a fake attack on the Pentagon do? That's just hypothetically speaking of course.
Until a believable theory exists explaining the 'why' part, I can't believe there was a conspiracy regarding the Pentagon.

I just saw a blurb on CNN about the Pentagon conspiracy that we've all heard a lot about.
Seems like its starting to gain some (fiscal) momentum.

If its getting play on CNN, it can't be that crazy.

Fox has also put a special as to whether there was a man on the moon, and I have seen stories on the news asking whether Elvis was alive.
Yup just that crazy.

Elvis is dead. I will tell you this though. They did NOT land on the moon and I firmly believe that.

I think people are more interested in the psychology of why conspiracy theories gain hold.
In the Pentagon case, a multi-millionaire has recently raised the bar by sponsoring advertisements promoting the theory, which is unusual and hence a story in itself.

Why don't you believe it? What evidence do you have that supports your theory?

I saw a couple documentaries that made a good case. There are many books and websites on the subject too. Have a look, at the very least you should find it interesting whether you choose to believe it or not.

There are also many documentaries and books on the existence of Sasquatch in the Pacific Northwest. I find them very interesting. Doesn't mean I believe it....and if you asked me why I don't believe it I would give you specific reasons which you have failed to do.
I've seen cases made for your position and have seen nothing that would sway me. So again, what specific reasons do you have for believing no man has ever set foot on the moon?

You are a grown man aren't you? Do your parents still wipe your arse for you? I doubt it- so I am sure you are perfectly capable of looking up all that stuff yourself. Some guys have all the time in the world to post links and chat it up all day. I am a full time student with a part time job and a 20 page paper due next week. For the record I do not believe in the sasquatch. From the stuff that I have read there is a pretty good case that there was no moon landing. Not everyone has to believe it. That is why it is called a conspiracy theory. It is one of the better ones out there though.
