Are you saying they won't get 10 games ever? Or just next season?

Watching the highlights from last nights blow out win against the Checkers, Sven is starting to look like a perimeter player. Am I wrong? I sure hope so. He used to have a nose for the net and had some moves in his tool belt... Is he just mentally fragile right now?

IMO all the tough love for Sven has solidified that he is part of the future plans for now. Under Feaster he was anointed the chosen one before he turned pro. I think he is in the AHL all year and possibly next year as well. The flames appear to be taking time to develop their prospects as there are plenty of 22-27 year olds on the roster ( Backlund, Colborne, Bouma, Galliardi, Butler, Russell, Brodie, Berra, Ramo). Monahan is clearly an exceptional 19 year old.
There are several guys on the farm knocking on the door and I even think Reinhart has passed Sven in terms of who is a NHL regular first

I can see that there is a lot of disappointment in how it has gone with Baertschi who was thought to be the Flames #1 prospect by 89 CP posters in August. Monahan was thought to be #1 by 114.
Would there be more or less disappointment in Granlund with Minnesota or Niederreiter with the Islanders last year than we have with Baertschi?
I have maintained the opinion that there are only a few spots on any NHL roster for small skilled guys... After the Flames clear out Cammalleri it leaves Baertschi fighting it out with Hudler, Gaudreau, Byron and Granlund for the 2 or 3 small forward spots. I would not be shocked if Baertschi is moved to a different team.

Burke devaluations? Comments by GMs (or anyone else) in the media have no impact on a player's trade value. NHL teams use information gathered by professional scouts to assess players, not newspaper articles and internet forums, the way fans do.

You would trade him for the same reasons you would trade any other player: because he's the asking price for an asset you want more; because you want to change the complexion of your team; or because you feel he will get you more of a return now than he will in a year or two.
I'm not saying he should be traded. But there's no reason why he should be treated any differently from another other asset in the organization.

I would say he's just beat down, It's clear Burke and Hartley didn't like his so-called off ice issues and as soon as Feaster was gone decided to punish him like a little kid.
Before someone says he's not ready to play in the NHL..I call BS. this is a rebuilding team and he was far from the worst winger on this team when big mouth Burkey sent him down.
The way they are treating this kid borders on ######ation.

Maybe they are treating him like a little kid because he's acting like one. Not sure how anyone can know if there treatment of him makes sense without being in the dressing room, regardless which side of this debate you are on.
However, what is distrubing is his reaction to being sent down (and it was the same last year as well, when he got sent down on Feaster's watch..........people seem to forget that he was having his issues long before Burke arrived but whatever).
Regardless if it's fair or not, doesn't really matter. His response to some adversity has been overwhealmingly dissapointing. When things get tough, when something happens he doesn't like, his results show that rather than rise above and prove his doubters wrong, he'd rather throw in the towel and be upset about whether his treatment is fair and just.

The problem is he needs to crack the top 6 and be offensively productive which is very unlikely to happen with the players we currently have.
Glencross - Backlund - Hudler
Bouma - Monahan - Cammy

Most people in any job will look for a new one if they feel their being mistreated, Sven probably wants a trade away from this management team, actually I would be shocked if he doesn't.
What's clear is talented players like Sven win in the end 90% of the time, most likely Hartley will be out of a job before Sven.

I was with you until your last sentence. As you said we don't know what's really going on in the dressing so it's unfair to say he's throwing in the towel - we don't know his mindset.

Not sure your point is serious.
Sven out played Glencross for most of the early season plus Curtis has been gone for 35 games, he played like garbage and got a free ride.
Bouma is not a top 6 forward(Sven has outscored him 2-1)

As it stands now Sven would be behind Granlund, Knight, Reinhart, Street and B. Jones in the line for the next call-up. What has he done in the AHL to prove he's ready for a full-time NHL job?

so you are thinking that if he was with any other organization that he would be on the big club playing T6 minutes and the flames are too stupid to figure that out?
