What is the unspoken rule for times to shovel snow anyways? Sometimes I don't get home until 8:30 ish 9, and I feel kind of bad for doing it around that time. I try to always have it done by 9pm at the latest. If I'm home later than that, I just wait until the next night. I don't shovel in the morning. What's good though, is that I live in a cul-de-sac, and I don't have a sidewalk.

How about mowing the lawn in the summer? It always got me so wound up when the old guy next door fired up his lawn mower at 7am on Saturday mornings after I went to some hard-drinking parties the night before...

The best is when an old dude on your block buys a snow blower and takes care of half the street. I got lucky with one of those this year.

I bought a snow thrower from costco last year and would take care of the block but after it broke twice I decided not to exchange it and just return it. After all this damn snow this year I think I might just try for the third time.

Also do you guys live in tin cans that a person shovelling outside can wake you up? I don't think I've ever heard my neighbor shovel unless I was physically outside.

Yeah...one of our neighbours likes 6am on Saturdays. If it wasn't for my wife one morning, I would have been in prison right now. Like you can't f'n wait until at least 9?

By-law says you can't operate a lawn mower before 7 on Saturday, so there is always that option.

I will shovel at anytime. It beats not doing it. I've even shoveled the snow at 1:30am after coming home from the pub. None of my neighbors have complained about the noise....they are probably just glad I'm only shoveling and not cranking my guitar amp up at 1:30am.

Leaving aside the loud roar from a snowblower, the sound of rough metal scraping on irregular concrete can travel quite far.
Plus, I doubt that many people have installed sound-insulating glass in all of the windows in their house.

Minor gear-grinder, but I hate when my wife does the dishes and puts the silverware into the little tray in the dishwasher completely randomly. When I do the dishes I always put all the forks together, spoons together, etc. That way when you empty it you can just grab them all at the same time and put them away quickly and efficiently. It takes the same amount of time to put them into the dishwasher in order as it does to do it randomly, but saves time emptying it.

Such a pain in the ass to report, follow up, etc. People just need to use common sense. C'mon, it's super early. Don't be shoveling or mowing your lawn. Be respectful to others. It's a lost art these days as you can see by rotten42's post above. "Well, at least I'm doing it", justifies not respecting other people apparently.
Just use your head people. This isn't rocket science.
Like the neighbour who thinks its ok to put their dog out at 6am and let it bark for an hour. <shakes head>...
As for insulation, well, some of us rent and some of the condos/rental units are just brutal for sound.

The problem with the "organized" method is that you can easily have forks or especially spoons stick together. So often you end up stuff coming out dirty.

Sounds good in theory, but what if the fork slot has a bunch and not many spoons or knives?
I like to keep the tray slots with a similar amount of cutlery that way they will be cleaner.

My dishwasher has little slots that keep each individual piece of cutlery separated so this would work perfect. Maybe his is like that, too. Otherwise, you're definitely right.

RGMG when someone accidentally includes a company wide distribution list on their e-mail and you then get the hordes of "why did I get this", "please remove me from the list", or "please don't reply-all" messages from those who replied-all.
On the other hand, it's somewhat hilarious. RGMG when IT magically put a stop to it too soon.

Yup, that's how our dishwasher is too. Honestly though, when I do the dishes I'm really only using the dishwasher as a sanitizer. I wash them in the sink first with soap and a sponge, so it's not like there's tons of food to wash off or anything.

As a professional dishwasher at many 1980s franchise restaurants, you can learn to sort cutlery quickly. Once you know how, it is faster than worrying about sorting the cutlery before washing.
