I literally fell asleep in the second quarter. This game was over before then.

Well done Seattle. I'm glad they put over 40 up, because it is clear they laid a beating. No one can say that "Denver lost the game" - no, Seattle whipped them.

Hopefully they also show Vancouver how to support your local sports team and not destroy the city.

I'm still trying to figure out how Manning put out such a horrendous performance. All this season it's been about the defense holding the team back and offense keeping the team alive. Last game, defense held their own, and even tonight, they did as much as I could hope for them. Manning's terrible turnovers complete decimated the Broncos today. Him and the offense really blew this up.

I don't agree with the media viewpoint on his legacy being questionable, but with a game like that, it's kinda hard to dispute.

First off congrats to the Seahawks. As an avid Colts fan my old timey heart strings wanted Manning to win another title. He is one of the greatest. But that was an abysmal effort by the Entire Broncos team. Zero effort or should I say emotion going into this. #88 was terrible, sure he broke the record for receptions but he wasn't going to gain a damn yard running east/west instead of north. The drove me nuts every time he caught the ball.

The best team in the league won tonight. Plain and simple.

Seattle got good pressure, and their linebackers and secondary made tackles rather than let guys like Thomas, Decker, Moreno, and Welker get any yards after the catch. Manning has always had the tendency to get happy feet, and the arm strength isn't what it used to be.

No doubt a great player, but outside of the one big second half comeback against New England, there have been many of the worst games of his career take place in the post season.

Simply outstanding to see this team play it's game, on both sides, on the big stage. Well deserved and Seattle to get full credit for the win.

I do not put this on Manning soley. That does not give the proper credit to the defense of Seattle. Seattle did EXACTLY as it's done on defense all year, and why the defense has singlehandedly won 7 or 8 regular season games this year. That is dominate the line, put pressure of the QB to make a throw, and with the aggressive, athletic LB and secondary, it's a risky proposition. With the added pass rush over last year, its forced QB's into throwing into the secondary and getting them out of their comfort zone.

The first throw Manning made to Thomas, on one of those crossing and rub routes that was hyped leading up to the game, Kam Chancellor planted him. That set the tone for the rest of the game.

Manning continued to make those quick throws on in-routes, but the yards after catch those first twenty minutes were probably in single digits, as two guys were on the receiver right away. The Denver running game was done after one quarter as well due to the score and the ineffectiveness of it.

I was surprised to see Manning forcing both of those 1st half INT throws....but he knew he had to make plays and there just wasn't ever the separation to make those plays he's used to seeing develop.

On offense, that was the Wilson that carried this team to within 30 seconds of the NFC Championship game last year and the best he's played since halfway through the regular season. After the first nervous throw, he called planned runs, and rolled out and found his guys. Without getting sacked, and being mobile, and that's what he needs to do to loosen up the defense, and his smart, yet unspectacular receivers were able to find those soft sports and out run or out fight the coverage.

Harvin the big X factor with his first half runs. Lynch was a non factor, Denver was ready for him, but he got his TD to kick things off.

With the Harvin TD on the 2nd half kickoff, this game was certainly over by halfway through the third quarter, even though I wasn't comfortable with a Manning lead team until midway through the 4th.

This was a complete game for Seattle, like they put together often over this year, and the past two years. They are that complete as I allude to week to week here, but until you can prove that statement it in the playoffs, its all an interesting sidebar...but I didn't see anything that I haven't seen from this defense tonight than they showed week in and week out this year.

Anyways, great feeling to see this team get what it's looked like they deserve. Without stepping too far back into the mid 90's and Rick Mirer, this team was average in the late 90' and early 2000s. The Superbowl team of 2005/06 was a good team, nowhere near this calibre. The fallout from that SB XL disaster had Hasslebeck hang around longer than he was useful, though he wouldn't admit it....along with Holmgren who made some bad decisions as GM.

Then the one year Jim Mora disaster.

Carroll and Schneider coming in and bringing the enthusiasm made it fun to be a fan again, because they were clear with what they were doing, even though it was going to be a few years away. Ditching Hasslebeck, (and 900-something transactions in the past 4 years) but then drafting/bringing in guys like Thomas, Wagner, Wright, Wilson, Baldwin, Browner. Trades of Lynch, etc.

Sticking with Tavares Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst as 16 game placeholders (missing out on Kolb that year to Arizona), waiting for that next franchise QB. Seattle was fortunate for Flynn to get hurt in preseason the next year, opening the door for Wilson (who Schneider wanted earlier than the third round)....but this team was always on the right track with those guys getting the talent, and then coaching them up in a unique way into players to get to this level.

Anyways, fantastic to have the team you've supported as long as one has, finally become the NFL Champions for the year.

^^^^I'm a Broncos fan, and I have to say great post, Browna. I agree that it can't be laid at Manning's feet. He had no time and his receivers had no space. Not that he played well, but i have to hand it to seattle. Enjoy it; it is well-deserved.

I just watched the game again. The Seattle defense was smart. They let Manning throw those crossing route all day long but they sat back and make sure Denver's TE and receivers don't gain any yard after catch. And their corners shut down the long bombs and that's how they won the game.

I expected the Seahawks to win but obviously nothing like that. The Kam Chancellor hit on Demarius Thomas pretty much told you early on Denver was going to have to fight tooth and nail for every yard. But outstanding to see defense not just win the Super Bowl, but totally dominate, in the era that has slanted the game towards offsense at an absurd rate. Congratulations to the Seahawks and their fans, this team has clear dynasty potential right now.

As to Peyton and his legacy, well here's his legacy pretty well sumed up: If you wanted a QB to take you to the playoffs every year, Peyton would be your choice. If you needed a QB to win you one game, you would take Eli every single day of the week, absolutely no hesitation. Peyton is the greatest technical master of the position, but there's at least two dozen guys you'd take in a big game ahead of him.

good post, and of course with being that young, this is a team that is managed very well and should be a threat for years to come.... I am not a fan but i can certainly acknowledge what they have done...

when the first snap goes over your head and into the end zone..... you have to wonder what that did mentally to their team. Seattle then swarmed them and didn't take their foot off the gas. What a beat down.

This is MetLife Stadium this morning...

So, I guess we know that someone has finally invented a weather-control machine and sold it to the NFL.

Well it depends. 49ers and Seahawks have had the benefit of having non-1st round QBs on their 1st contract. Wilson will ask for ~15 mil a year now. And I think the Seahawks will give it to him. That will cost them on defense. They met their required window to win a Super Bowl and that was while Wilson was on the first contract. Now they will have to start making tough decisions.

I think the first botched snap contributed a lot to Seattle's beatdown on Denver. Denver's offense was akin to a well oiled machine, a F1 race car. Once that happened you have to wonder what went thru in Peyton's mind until he got the ball back. Then came the 3 and out and an INT for Peyton. One thing led to another. I can't say the botched snap cost Denver the game but it definately had something to do with the outcome and the shellacking.

This game showed how much better the NFC is vs the AFC. Dever's impressive offensive numbers might be embellished a bit because they played in the AFC and thus skewed the so called expert prediction or Vegas line.

That was an auspicious beginning for sure, but IMO the game was set the next series when (as Browna noted) Thomas went over the middle and got steam rolled by Chancellor for his effort. That was the Hawks saying "we will give you the middle of the field but its gonna hurt"....and after that the Broncos "will" was pretty much gone and game over.

As good as Manning was all year, when things got ramped up he and his Oline both wilted under pressure. Those deep balls he threw were flat out ugly...so i really do have to question whether he can do this much longer.

At any rate the Hawks deserve all the credit as that was as dominating a win as seen in many years in any Superbowl.

Not for 2 years...as thats when the window open for re-negotiation.

They might lose a guy or 2 off of defense, but that core group will be together for a while yet.
