Haha, there's nothing better than non natives (assuming) explaining how ridiculous it is that natives would be offended at a team name. "I mean as a white guy people need to just stop being offended at stuff. It's getting out of hand!"

As if derogatory slurs directed to white people is exactly the same as those that have been inextricably tied to a long history of racial violence, cultural expunction, and even genocide. Why am I not offended by these words? I suspect it has something to do with the fact that as a white person living in the Western world, all I have ever known is civil liberty. Never been racially threatened. Never been culturally undermined. Can some of you really not see the difference?

I do, if Washington has a Yankees type history they likely wouldn't be as quick to go after them because of the possible backlash.

Perhaps. In that respect I suppose we can be thankful that such is not the case. After all, the "right thing to do" is usually a constant, but in certain instances it is easier to do the right thing.
