Some do. Ethical Bean comes to mind.

It has to do with coffee beans releasing gasses that could potentially pop a bag, that's why most decent coffees come with that valve thing on there to let pressure out. Plus wikipedia says this:

Quote:
In addition, for the first week of storage, containers should be opened to vent out the carbon dioxide gas that will be produced by the roasted beans to prevent the gas from changing the quality of the coffee.[3] Whole bean roasted coffee stored in this manner will last for about two weeks.
So I guess the "non-sealed" bag is best for home use? Having said that, our office coffee supplier delivers everything in ziplock type bags, and given that most people are opening/closing the bag daily there's probably not much risk of the pressure causing much of anything.

You're not a bank or insurance company, F that noise. I could have driven the 5 minutes to the location and placed my order before you clowns got to my call....literally.

The worst part is, you pick up your pizza and there's like 7 employees hanging out and phones right there, but nope, gotta wait in line with hundreds of other callers across western Canada so they can save a buck!
Order Online?

Ordering online is sometimes slower than just phoning but yeah when you get a phone system based out of India like you're calling the Royal bank or something it's pretty annoying. I just want a ####ing pizza.

Also super annoying is, with respect to Pizza Hut specifically you have to type in your phone number and then when they finally connect you with a human they need it again.

It grinds my gears when people complain about the lingo in Starbucks. If you are that upset over having to say grande, instead of medium, go to another place where you can order a medium. If you like the coffee so much that you need to go there for it, then say grande, like everyone else there does, and stop complaining. I like Starbucks, so I order it their way. If I hated how to order something so much that I tweeted about it, I'd go across the street to another place.

Before someone posts the picture/video of Paul Rudd talking about Starbucks lingo, venti means 20 in Italian. There are 20 ounces in a venti drink at Starbucks. In some test stores there is even a trenta sized drink that is 30 ounces. Trenta is 30 in Italian.

Thank you for mentioning this! It's actually a common one with a lot of call centres.

"Enter your account number and then press pound"

You do as instructed. Small fist pump for entering in all 16 digits without screwing up. Wait 5 minutes. Your call is answered.

"Thank you for calling ________, may I please have your account number?"

ARGH!

Did you know that starbucks used to have only two sizes - short and tall? In other words, "tall" was once their large. Now it is their small. 'murica.

You can still order the short though - it's just not on the menu. Whenever I am forced to go there, I get a short cappuccino, which is much better than the tall (less milk, same espresso).

whenever I go to Starbucks I say "can I get a medium coffee" and then they ask me if I want room for cream.

It works pretty well and I'm not sure why that would grind anybody's gears. I want a medium, I ask for a medium. If they call their medium a grande (is that the one?), I don't care. They never seem to care either. They seem to catch my drift.

Yeah 'Medium' is pretty universal for 'the middle sized one'. I've never heard of or seen any starbucks workers pretending to not understand what they mean. Pretty weird thing to get annoyed by, since nobody cares. Call it whatever you want.

Not really a gear grinder, but my favourite time to visit Starbucks is Sunday mornings during the post-church crowd rush. You will never hear a more specific set of drink instructions & adjective descriptors attached to every order. I swear it's some people's "once a week treat" and dammit, it's gonna be right.

extra hot, light foam, soy chai etc etc

My Starbucks gear grinder is the people that dump some of their coffee into the garbage.

Why the hell do people do that? Its not like its only a few people either, I see it all the time. Is there not enough "room" for you? Is it some sort of hipster Starbucks trend?

That stuff is expensive, who the hell dumps out 5$ dollar coffee?

Glenmore Landing and it's parking lot. This bizarre mixture of senior citizens in luxury sedans, housewives in SUVs, and middle aged men in pickup trucks cannot navigate this parking area. What a disaster.

The ongoing myth that a "coffee" at Starbucks is expensive GMG.

A latte, a caramel macchiato, whatever sure fine. A regular coffee at Starbucks is a whopping 20 cents more than Tims or McDonalds.

I highly doubt that anyone is dumping out a $5 latte, but likely a $2 coffee because there's no room for cream.

But think of the ROI! Cream has a way lower profit margin than coffee, so pour out 20 cents of coffee, and add 60 cents of cream. Pure profit!

I usually dump out a bit so that it doesn't splash in the cup holder. You either have to hold it, or dump out the first bit so that it doesn't splash while exiting the parking lot.

From the Starbucks cups? With lids?

If that's your problem, they have little green stops for the lids that avoid spillage.
