Obviously there's no buy-in with this group for Eakins but why would they change for the next guy? They've already killed MacT, Quinn, Renney and Kruger.
Flames fans have seen this story before.

The 10,000 pound elephant in the room with the Oilers is that their top four players Hall, Eberle, RNH, Nail are just outright coach killers because they frankly don't want to work that hard when the Oilers don't have the puck. Whether its a coaching issue or a personal integrity issue is yet to be decided. The smart move would be to break up that core, move one of those big four out and shake up the culture of that team.
However one of those big four getting moved might be perceived as a reward and the rest would bottom out just to force a trade.
Hall has some nice effort in spurts but when he gets frustrated he doesn't work harder, he pouts on the ice.
The player talent of those 4 is nice but too similar, the leadership is lacking and when they interviewed these players at the drafts they were too fixated on their toe dragging skills and didn't dig deep enough into their heart and leadership.
I think Eakin's is in over his head with this team, but you can't keep rewarding those players by firing coaches when they give up. I don't believe Scotty Bowman could wring any bigger effort out of them.
I've said it repeatedly, Edmonton expected this to be their shiny final product of their 3rd rebuild in a row. Their salary structure, their free agency mess that's upcoming points to this team being it.
With the rotten culture in that dressing room and in that whole organization, I wouldn't be surprised if Lowe and Mac-T come out at the end of the year and state that they're going to continue to rebuild for the next few years.
Its a joke, if Oiler fans aren't embarressed enough they should demand that the players play a game in their practice jersey's because the players certainly haven't earned the right to wear for real NHL silks.
There are a lot of problems with that organization, but all of the blame can't fall on the GM's and Presidents and Coaches, it has to fall on the players in that core and their never say try attitude.
Today's game was similar to the game against the Sharks, where the team basically abandoned their goalie. But in this case they didn't get the amazing goaltending performance.
If I was Scriven's I'd be going into that dressing room and losing my mind after two dud performances by the team in front of him. But the reaction by the players would be to heartlessly quit on their goalie.
there's nearly nothing up there for Oiler fans to be excited about.
