This guy might not get offered a contract next year... Feaster did well.
So, as it worked out.
Erixon ...demoted again.(AHL)
Horak...(AHL) who knows!
Brossolt ..demoted from the AHL (ECHL)
McColgan ... Demoted from WHL (BCHL) complete bust
for
Smid (NHL) solid player
Granlund (AHL) looking good ..tied for goals with the heat
Wotherspoon (AHL) not bad ..leads heat in +/-

You're forgetting the 6 first rounders we'd get, Grandlund from the wild, Gallager from the habs and Murray from the BJ's.
FFS, I've said that I would take all thos players either for the right price or along with some form of payment from the other team.
If you're going to say I want all those players, you might as well include what I want us to get with them.

The funny thing is that if he would have stayed with the Flames, he would have likely had a much longer leash and a lot more NHL games to his name (likely would have already broke 150 as opposed to the 50 or so he has now. I wonder how much money that decision will cost him in the long run.

I can't take anything you post seriously. Why would Minnesota give up Granlund to dump pending UFA Dany Heatley?

That's the point. I've said that we should go after Heatley and Bourque if the other teams were to give up a lot for us to give them up. I wouldn't give up anything of value for Erixon but I would take a chance on him if they were giving him away for nothing. My post wasn't serioius but I couldn't take the other post serious either.
My main point is that if a team wants to pay to get players off their team, we should try to cash in

Why would we want to acquire a player that did everything in his power not get signed with us in the first place, and obviously doesn't want to be here?
We give second chances for that kind of unprofessional behaviour just because he might still have decent upside?
Damn, how desperate are we? I'm sure some other teams right now that weren't directly affected would take a pass on him just based on his past behaviour.

I am beyond astonished that anyone would even consider taking him back after the stunt he pulled forcing a trade. I don't care if this experience has been humbling for him. Burke said himself we need to draft/acquire players with great character which is most definitely not Tom.
The argument "well we need D prospects" doesn't make any sense either. Please take the time to look at other prospects who haven't screwed over the organization and getting booed by Flames fans when on the ice. It's not like we'll get a discount on Erixon because we drafted him.
All the Flames have to do now is sit down, point and laugh.

That's not the reason I think we'd get a discount on him....if they're putting him in the minors again then they don't really have much plans for him. If we could get him for a 6th rounder or one of our prospects that we have no plans for (Neimz kind of player) then I'd take him.
Again, I would not give up anything of value for him. If they wanted to get rid of him, I would say he's worth giving a chance to see what he can do. Our defensive prospect pool doesn't seem too great to anyone other than Flames fans who think all of our prospects are awesome.
If they asked for anything more than a C level prospect or a late round pick, I'd say no.

A part of me would love to see the look on his face as he got off the plane in Alaska.

I hope Conroy sends him and his agent a text message asking him how he's enjoying Diner quality food and bus rides in the AHL.

another great point... If we were to pick him up and he didn't work out, we could just send him to Alaska with a note saying;
"don't #### with us. Ever."

Well, zero percent chance the BJs don't give him a contract. But I hope he busts completely at the NHL level and eventually goes back to Sweden or to the KHL

So people laugh at the Oilers for acquiring a player that didn't want to play for them, and now people are talking about acquiring a player that didn't want to play for Calgary... makes sense.

Must be an oiler fan....

I don't care if they want a bag of pucks for him. That kind of attitude belongs nowhere near the Flames organization and the locker room.

We acquired a bunch of stuff for him. If we can get him back for next to nothing.. why not?
If he can help us win games in the future then get him. Stupid to shoot yourself in the foot because some guy hurt your feelings in the past. Flames fan accepted Bertuzzi.. they'd get over it and accept this guy as well.

It's not that he "hurt our feelings". His whole attitude is being questioned. I for one don't want a prima donna type hanging around the team during a rebuild. I think the potential negativity of such a move far outweighs any potential benefits.

It blows my mind that the feel good thread of the day has degraded into this... Erixon will not help you win games, he will help you and the entire dressing room of the team you cheer for want to repeatedly punch themselves in the nuts.
His attitude is terrible, he's not right in the head, he has entitlement issues and a meddlesome father. he is a CANCER. It would be an unquestionably stupid risk to give this guy the least bit of a sniff.

Erixon for O'Brien?
It'd be hilarious to just lock him in Abbotsford.
