I know you're trolling a bit, but Boomers were born between 46-64, but since the polio vaccine was made in the 50s, it wouldn't be correct to say it was made by a boomer, unless 10 year olds were inventing vaccines.

The boomers were being born in the 50's. Unless the polio vaccine was discovered by a pre-schooler, no credit can be given to the "boomers" for its discovery. Now disco on the other hand, is directly attributable to boomers - so there is that.

...and without Disco you'd have no electronic Dance Music today....just sayin...

We still love you X/Yers and Millenials...as soon as you learn how to hold that shovel we can move you up the ladder!

Not this shovel either

Is this really a well established fact or just an anecdotal one?
I see it mentioned in op ed pieces all the time but that doesn't make it so.
By what measure is life today worse than previously?
Cost of living? Purchasing Power? Employment levels? Health? Opportunities for success?
Also, what region are you referring to Canada or the whole world?

I'm pretty sure sheer terror of nuclear war and russia's economy tanking diffused the cold war. I don`t give points for bringing the world to the brink of destruction, then changing your mind at the last possible moment.
  • A Baby Boomer eradicated Polio. That sounds pretty damned fine.
  • Baby Boomers have helped reduce or eradicate in some countries the instance of Capital Punishment.
  • Boomers gave you the Beatles, Beach Boys and Bee Gees!
  • Boomers gave you the RIGHT to Divorce....you can decide if thats good or bad.
  • Boomers were responsible for dismantling Communism in most of the world.
Often to horrific effect, especially if it was a non-white country.
  • Who started the "internet"? oh ya...a BOOMER.
  • Civil Rights? Who needs them? Oh ya Boomers again.
The wheels of civil rights were well in motion before boomers came along, neither Rosa Parks or MLK were baby boomers. The hippies even found a way to spin civil rights into a self-indulgent, drug fueled orgy. All the boomers had to do was not drop the ball (which they sort of did, considering their `war on drugs`is basically the `war on black people`)
  • Baby Boomers were the first group to really ring the bell on Environmental issues. This isnt something X&Y just thought up this century.
They really didn`t do much other than notice. Investment in alternative energy has been minimal and sluggish. Personal energy consumption has steadily increased.
and lastly...we look and smell a hell of a lot better.

as to the economy...well lets see if you guys do a better job.
It would have been nice to do this while having access to cheap education, cheap housing, cheap oil and not be burdened with your debt. I suppose we`ll have to try a route other than gambling away the future to fuel our endless lust for money.
I`m not saying the boomers were wholly bad, but you can`t make a few good points and call them wholly good either. *warning extreme hyperbole incoming*: Nazisms contributions to physics, engineering and medical sciences were tremendous, but they were still nazi`s.

I don't want to get involved with a back and forth here but what's with the often blank, expressionless face you get from a gen Y when you ask them a simple question? I can't count how many times whether it be at Tim Hortons, Best Buy, or other places when you ask a young employee a question or trying to explain what you are looking for they just clam up and say nothing like their brain just paused. Really weird.

Gen Y is weird, I think the people around my age (30) are ok but the later half of gen Y is a mess.

Maybe. Personally I feel it has a little to do with their over reliance on communicating solely though cell phones. They just seem like they are high a lot of the time as it's like talking to Bill and Ted.

Older generations always think younger generations are ####ty, but I think every subsequent generation from this point on is going to start saying "wtf have we been doing" and start reversing horrible things in the world like what we have in this documentary.

From this point? What the hell do you think us Boomers have been doing for the last 50 years?

The Boomers had to hide from the strap at home and at school. We hated getting beaten so much we made it a law that parents/teachers couldnt do that anymore...should call my buddy in parliament and get that retracted.

It's not Gen Y's Fault most older folk have no idea what they're talking about.

"hey son, what's the memory on the motherboard of this microwave. My friend Jim told me to make sure it's over 30 kilowatts."

That stuff usually pauses our brain

/half joking

I'm not saying I do it. I'm saying as younger generations grow up, I feel they'll be more and more likely to care about things like this because they won't be raking the benefits like the boomers did. My young cousins care more than I do, I'm sure their children will care even more ... and so on.

Instead of teaching them, you spend an hour in line on Saturday AM at Mr. Lube. Pure laziness.
