Not a great cap hit, but I expect he'll live up to it.
I've been predicting his breakout every year for the last 3 or 4 years, and he's let memdown every year, but I'm still convinced he'll be a top-10 goalie in the NHL.

I don't think its an overpayment, maybe fair value? . Cap going up, Avs have room. Locking down a young good goalie is never a terrible thing. Good for the Avs.

Needs to continue to play at this years current level or else this is a horrible contract going forward.
At this price...could squeeze RoR out of the picture, especially if they resign Stasny.

Avs tanked hard and got some great players in the past 3 years. Cap is going in the next few years so this contract is a good one if Varlamov can keep up his play.

I think it's more like fair value if Varlamov plays like a top 10 goalie. $5.9M cap hit is currently top 8 among goalies. Steal half way through this deal? I think Varlamov will need to play like a top 3 goalie in order for that to happen.
