I believe Levine is hurt from reading some tweets on his twitter.

I seem to remember Nadal/Djokovic and Williams were pretty strong favorites for Australia so 20-1 on the four seed is pretty likely.
thanks...brain fart on my end. I was thinking he put those bets down once the final matchups were decided, rather than right at the beginning with the initial odds. durrrr

in that case, no I wouldn't have touched a bet like that. the guy is clearly a time traveler, and not a particularly bright one at that because he should have put down his life savings instead of a measly few hundred bucks.

I dont trust Levine anyways. I think Dancevic and Polansky are fine. Two guys in the top 150 and have had a good few months. And below them I'd play Peliwo.

Polansky took a set of Nishikori in last year's Rogers Cup and Nishikori isn't 100% after some battles in Australia so you never know!

We can't complain. Didn't we beat Spain because they had injuries?

If Canada get split the opening singles matches, then we should be in pretty good shape. Old man Nestor and Vasek should hopefully prevail in doubles and then it's down to the two singles matches.

/As an aside, Girly, how has Peliwo been playing of late?

That's right, it's the nature of Davis Cup. And playing these types of matches is good experience for everyone. It could launch Dancevic and Polansky into a good season.

Spain's Garcia-Lopez who played in that tie against Canada was ranked in the 100s, now a year later he's ranked 55.

I think we can all agree that even if Spain brought their A or even B squad we would have annihilated them! We only kept things interesting with the C squad for the fans!

Japan have by far the worse doubles team in the World Group.

Peliwo's been doing ok. Galo Blanco is coaching him now. He's lost all 3 matches in 2014 to higher ranked players but before that he got his ranking up to 265 which would put in him on some challengers. Before that he won a Futures tournament in Markham and made a challenger semifinal in Lexington.

Sounds like Pospisil's back is feeling worse and there's a chance he might not even play tomorrow, according to a couple of reporters in Japan right now.

Sportsnet said during the Leafs game that he will be out. It is Sportsnet though.

he's being monitored. I believe Laurendeau is just playing the Japanese media.

I don't even think they even need him for doubles, again Japan is a horrible doubles team. They really just need him for the 5th and deciding rubber.

Who allowed them to wear the same colour? If polansky didn't have the hat on, this would be a confusing match.

Too bad about raonic and pospisil... Polansky and danko are ok but this is going to be an uphill battle. I wouldn't mind seeing Peliwo play a singles match if they are down 2-1 after the doubles just for experience.

On a side note I really want an anything is pospisil shirt, would have to take the cake for most confused looks and blank stares of any shirt I'll ever own.

I saw Indian doubles guy (Adil) on the bench again, never actually seen him play but I believe he is a doubles specialist... Him and Nestor should pummel japan.

Would be weird seeing him play after watching him cheer from the bench for every tie I've watched in the last couple years.

A solid effort for Polansky, even though he came up short, is all you can really ask. A big one is coming up next for Dancevic.
