Couldn't he have just sent out a tweet saying, "doing my job"?

Thanks for the summaries...

Burke mentioned the Sabres being an exception this time.

He should have spent 20 minutes holding up a picture of Kevin Lowe and laughing.

Yep, it was all pretty much standard fare in terms of Burkes responses. The fact that they are getting into talks with RFA's now is a good sign. I would really love to be a fly on the wall to find out who the pro scouts and Burke have targeted for acquisition.

I hope Russell is about the only UFA they re-sign.

-Got 10 calls from other GMs telling him that he got a good deal with Stajan, that his cap number was a good one
-Instruction from ownership/King is to be fair with players and not try to cheat them all out of money on contracts

I love these two points. The fact other GM's are touching base with him on signing his own player tells me he is still well connected and respected. The ownership instructing them to be fair and not nickel and dime players speaks highly of them

Didn't Feaster say GMs were calling him to congratulate him for trading for Butler.

Just saying.

That move to start the game with the Big Bodies is an awesome coaching decision. Good old fashion hockey against a talented team that can be pushed over. Just for that coaching decision, I think Hartley's a great coach. The guy knows what he's doing and he definitely pushed Torts over the edge and all the while, he's calm as ever.

I don't remember that. Knowing Feaster it was probably just Regier congratulating him on picking up Butler.

I'm sure he was asked if he'd come on....................... this is a hockey market, people like to hear what he has to say even if there isn't much to report. It's not like he called a presser.

Two things:

- One, people are probably more intimidated to call up Burke than Feaster.........so if they felt the need to do so and say good job - that's a good thing.

-Two, people are probably more intimidated to tell Burke what they really think..........so maybe they weren't being honest with him - that's a bad thing.

I honestly doubt GMs are intimidated of Burke. You've gotta have balls and thick skin for the kind of job they're holding. What's Burke gonna do? yell at them? lol.

I kinda agree that Stajan is a good asset at the moment for this rebuilding process only because the Flames lack center depth and size. Otherwise, before the rebuild, the trade looks totally lop-sided in the Leaf's favor and is probably still looks that way. On Stajan's high hockey IQ - I'd question that.

I'm sure ALL personnel aren't off-limits, just the ones that are of interest to Burke. I doubt he had made a call about Tim Murray's availability.

If you are intimidated by other people then you won't last long as a GM. The other GMs will spot you a mile away and take advantage of you.
