there is an expiry date on coaches who preach hard work and use the press box.....they should ride Hartley until he expires.

Hartley. He's gotten the most out of the team that he possibly can. Burke said it best when he said Hartley has laid the foundation for the future with hard work and accountability. Changing the coaching staff will do nothing to improve the team in the future. If anything, it will disrupt what Hartley has built. Until the Flames have the talent to compete every night, all they can relay on is hard work. Not Hartley's fault he has crap for talent. I honestly hope the new GM retains Hartley for the foreseeable future. I love reading articles about the work ethic he's instilled in the organization and how much he cares for the players and the fans.

Hartley has done good, wouldn't mind giving him some more time. And wouldn't mind bringing in Ward once all his boys start moving up to the big club.

If Ron Wilson ever comes close to this team I will, SNAP! LOSE IT! Ever since I been the Champ. DING.

Do not want.

Is that good enough for you or do you want to continue attacking the poster and not the content?
How am I continuing to attack the poster? Questioning your thought process is not attacking you.

You posted a trollish response to someone who said they thought Boucher was a good coach, with the Flyers video about the 1-3-1. Again, I am not sure how that helps the discussion.

Once people figured him out they started losing a lot, so much so they got Drouin.
Or it could be that he had a tandem of Garon / Lindback in net. Not exactly his doing. Lindback is actually doing worse than he was last year, so I am not sure how exactly the "new" system is helping their defense either - nor was their defensive depth exactly stellar either.

Hartley has done a good job overall this year.

Obviously he has the team working hard and has built a solid work ethic.

Conversely, he isn't always great managing the young ones. We'll see how that plays out after the trade deadline and next year.

Didn't want Hartley to start with, don't want anyone else except Hartley now.

Love the attitude he shows, love how he is making every rookie earn his stripes, love how this team is playing hard, and love how the Flames are NOT a boring club to watch.

There will be some horrible downs (that stretch not long ago where the Flames couldn't score) and some incredible ups (beating LA twice!!), but this team's average is a hardworking one.

No coach has been able to get this club working this hard since Darryl did. At the very least, Hartley should be kept around for the rebuild so far for forcing every rookie to earn his spot on the team, and to take his spot away when he stops earning it. The culture on this club was what needed the most rebuilding, and Hartley seems to be on top of that.

If my post was "trollish" then how exactly would you describe your post? Pot and kettle my friend, let's move on.

Feel free to disagree, but I hated his coaching style. I don't doubt that the goaltending and lack of quality defenders had a lot to do with it. I simply hate teams that play anything that resembles a trap. Can't express how much I hate it. Not to mention that Burke would never go for a guy that doesn't play an "exciting" brand of hockey.

Just an FYI, Boucher now signed to coach Bern in the Swiss league.

i Personally want to keep Hartley, he has kind of grown on me and i think that he is the right coach for this team. second would be Peter Laviolette.

absolutely do not wanna see another coach here for at least 3 years.

This coaching carousel is a nauseating ride and weve seen way to much emphasis placed on the coaches instead of the players who play the game.

Ward is prepping the guys in Abbotsford and its seems as if Burke is allowing it to continue even though he's claiming he is losing sleep ...blah blah blah.

When we were entirely healthy to start the season we were in every game.

Those games were entertaining and not blowouts that all the naysayers were predicting.

Hartley hopefully stays because there isnt a coach outside of Laviolette that id be willing to try and he's no guarantee

Hartley was awful before coming here and hasn't done much since coming here. He hasn't had anything to work with but his defensive systems are horrible and the team looks lost offensively as well.

Keep him around to suck up the loses but he is hopefully gone at the end of this year or next at the very latest.

As for your list I would take Murray or Stevens.

If Burke decided to go with someone else, I'd vote John Stevens as well. He was one of the options I liked when Brent was still coaching.

Hartley for sure. He's had this team in way more games than they have any business being in, he's instilled an attitude that has seen them come back more often than they should have, and he's never got a defeated look or body language. The guy is a pro.

Also, the way he handled the last game vs Vancouver sold me on him 100%. The guy knows what he's doing.

I believe Hartley is not the coach we are going to see behind the bench when we next make the playoffs, but he will be the reason why we are there. He's creating such a great foundation for this team right now.

His style however isn't one that can be effective for long periods of time, I think we see one more season of him, maybe season and a half, then a new coach, whoever he is, will bring this team to the playoffs. It should be Hartley that gets most of the praise when we make the playoffs, but it won't. He's in a thankless position right now, and I hope wherever his next job is he gets a better team from the get go.

Hartley and Burke are doing a good job of distracting us from the fact we have a horrible team. Burke throws the fans some bread now and than and Hartley gives us the circus. Having said that, keep both for the time being, I enjoy the circus.

I say bring back Mike Keenan. I'd love to see him work with Burke and watch the fireworks ensue.

For what he's had to work with, Hartley has done fine.
I'd be content seeing him for at least another year.

I don't see what Hartley has done to deserved to be fired, nor do I see the benefits of bringing in a new coaching staff. I think it's easy to say Burke will want "his guy" and that's well and true, but I don't think he'll implement his guy until the team is ready to take the next step.
